If there were a new SW MMO... Would we...

I'm just curious. Rampant rumors always come up about pulling the plug and Lucas Arts being disatisfied with the state of the game/ having one in secret development. Have to love rumors; Well, not really.

To me... I think I'd keep my accounts here at least till SOE officially pulled the plug 'and' attempt to play the new game 'with' the largest chunk of you I could find here going to a new server together. I'd like to think we'd still have Tales for the new game as well. How about the rest of you?

Well if it was going to happen to any MMO it would be SWG.

Its doubtful I would do much with another SWG MMO. The idea of starting over is not appealing to me at all. Plus a new game is just going to be reloaded with bugs and new problems.

Somehow I don't think LucasArts could pull it off.

I think if they ever decide to have a SWG2, they would be best served to set it in KOTOR time. You still have the two sides of the conflict: Republic vs The Sith. Jedi might as well be a starting class since they're so common here on both sides.

There's so much less "continuity" to trip over, but still the huge range to work with. I think it would be the best possible setting and the only reason to do another one. There is still lots of room for more content in this game as well things like space docking/raiding coming soon as well as the GCW ranking system to allow us to keep ourselves busy.

but how is EQ2 different from EQ1 other than better graphics and new professions?

because if there will be a SWG2, it will go the same route as EQ did, being theyre the same company

I don't really know what professions you could add, other than maybe playing a droid...
All you can really add is content, which is what we're screaming for now, and not the type of content we have to pay for every couple months, by buying a new disc with a buggy new world

This game has more 'content" then any MMO on the market by far.

Space expansion? Kashyyk adventure planet? Geo Caves, DWB, Corellian Corvette, Avatar Platform, Warren, tons of POIs, great RP tools. Great player driven opportunities, The best combat system in any MMO. The best crafting system bar none.

There's no club midnight, no roba, no anything liek that in most other MMOs, the devs gave us more tools than other MMOs to generate our own content, and i'll take that over a new dungeon every month anyday. Look at WoW. Their big thing was "Ohhhhh battlegrounds" they came out with two..months ago..one of which horribly sucks (AV) the other is fun but its the same thing over and over...now its been MONTHS and they are finally gonna come out with a third battleground...that the kinda content you want?

Sorry but the "content cry" as I call it is usually evidence of not having played many MMOs, the grass is always greener, but i'm telling you from a vast experience with MMOs this one is the best on the market, by far.

UO has and always will have more content then SWG. When a company contracts out so that every shard can have an event mod...then I call that a pretty big step towards having some really nice content. We had player cantinas, player cities that make the ones in SWG look like crap (and that wasnt even a function of the game.), players that ran small to epic quests almost weekly. For a game who's graphics are 6 years behind galaxies...its still the most immersive MMO on the market period.

UO was amazing...but the devs ripped their own game apart to compete with EQ1 when it came out. They ruined pvp, ruined the only cool thief system in an mmo, and i'm sorry..player cities did not compare to SWG's

You could place houses..sure...but they didn't show up on the map as a city..no city services...they were just clusters of houses...

Every server had those Green robed player event guys, but it was still pretty weak. Most events were "here come some monsters, kill em" I mean...seriuosly....

i love old school UO and hate how they butchered it, but as much as I love it, it wasn't as friendly towards player created content as galaxies is.

And that's the problem... We get a new half ass game every few publishes... The Devs are as careless as George Lucas is whimsical with what he puts in his movies! This is 'not' a good thing with a game like this...

As long as SOE isn't involved with a SWG 2... I deffinately think todays 'fix' would see me drop this like a hot potatoe!

ive got you both whupped there guys.

played UO for 6years. loved it couldnt imagine playing something else.

then i joined a NON-OSI shard called mytharria really opened my eyes to roleplaying for real. player run economy every city was player made (dm's just touched them up to make them look like real cities) quests weekly daily hourly even. (i played a fairy enchantress)

then i found my first star wars mmo it was a UO shard that had custom patching that allowed players to become Jedi.. bounty hunters rouges etc etc. loved that till it crashed and the devs couldnt recover the data and thus scrapped the server.

then i started playing SecondLife ( www.secondlife.com if you sign up put sharn musashi as your reference ill buy you nice stuff ig promise) and my eyes where opened to a TRUE player run economy. true it wasnt an MMO in traditional sense but hey its graphics customization features everything was and is the best ive ever seen. really. you wanna play as luke skywalker you can make your avatar into luke skywalker. hell i know people that made twi'leks in that game for sale its great! unfortunately most of the roleplaying is based on who can hit who the furthest with his uber lightsaber or maximum power blaster blah blah blah (i stay away from combat but im still equipped for it should it come to me)

and now i play galaxies for the star wars content. that i love the roleplaying i adore. and more. i still play secondlife but not as often now that im grinding for my jedi initiate

all in all ive played a few MMO's anarchy online earth and beyond swg nwn secondlife UO but never did i play evercrack (i didnt like how it looked and my computer wouldnt handle it when it came out) but now i play SWG and SL almost exclusively. i still dive into nwn for my medival RPG fix hehe. anyways im ranting i shush now.

For me to play a new SW game I think I would have to see what their system would be. If it is simalar to the Wizards of the Cost system that we see in KOTOR I would pick it up and depending on weather I could pay for both and weather SWG really takes a noes dive after the new one comes out would determine weather or not I continue SWG (assuming I get back in the game before this would happen).

If SOE lost the lisence, witch could happen, and a new company took over I think I would see what server a majority of you guy where going to. Personally I think if this would ever happen the moderators here need to get together and deside on where SWGT would go (sever wise) and annonce it on the boards here so those of us who want to continue playing with one another can.

Naw, the games were still there yesterday afternoon. But all your Steelers gear I got for a nice discount. Hines Ward's return should knock the prices up a bit, then I'll re-sell. :-D
