Return of Captain Kirk...

The 73 yr-old Shatner is getting his old bones dug out of the grave again in what is sure to be another Star Trek folley mixed with time travel and fubar continuity. Shatner will be playing himself as I am convinced he believe he is Kirk in real life at this point.

I have yet to read the article, I am unable to bring myself to do so. Maybe the fact that I even posted shows that I still care... then again maybe not.

Damn from your post I thought they were bringing him on to do another Star Trek movie but they're just talking about a guest spot on the Enterprise TV Series.

Let 'em have their wacky episodes with Kirk. Won't phase me none.

Now if it was just like that Deep Space Nine epsiode when they were editied into the old Star Trek during the Tribble storyline. That was funny shit.

When they called Worf on the fact that Klingons looked really different in the old shows and his only response was "We don't like to talk about that" I laughed my ass off.

ARGH. I don't even watch Enterprise, because it = lame sauce, and trying to say that Kirk came back in time sometime after the main Trek movies and before the first Next Gen movies just makes my head hurt.

Enterprise is supposed to predate Kirk, before the Federation was even formed, thats the worst part.

Basically X'an.. at some point after Enterprise the Federation went through a 60's phase and Klingons (like Seret said) looked gay. They also switch from having helpful display monitors to walls covered in Christmas lights because thats more helpful for readouts.

I want to know what that thing sticking out of Ohura's ear was. It looked ear grew a techno tumor. I guess the concept of technology gettting smaller as time goes on doesn't apply there.

There's actually a hidden meaning in that joke, for those of us who are truly lost in the Trek geekdom:

The obvious joke is that it was just REALLY UGLY effects work (although it looked great for its time, obviously).

The hidden joke is that in an attempt to write some continuity into the effects work, in one of the manuals for Next Gen Trek stuff it tries to cover the bad 70's makeup by saying that those were human/Klingon hybrids, and they bred them to fight the humans because the humans were seen as "beneath them."

So, the "we don't like to talk about that" was actually a stab at the idea that the Klingons bred half-Klingons to fight humans, and LOST because of it.

At least, that's my take on it.

That DS9 tribble episode was really well done I thought. And yes, the explanation about the klingons was priceless. One of my favorite trek moments. :)

Sometimes less is more when it comes to explaining things.

For example.. The force-
Option A: A mystical energy field than binds the universe together
Option B: Tiny organisms that live in your blood

I prefer Option A. Why can magic and mystery be magic and mystery? Do we need to have an explanation for everything? If the Force was tiny organisms then why the hell didn't Obi-Wan know this in Episode IV?

That reminds me, can I get a big hooded robe and learn to make that wacky noise Ben did to get rid of Tuskens at the Fort? That would be swell.
