With the way deathblows are and healing, anything larger than a group double your size becomes a brick wall. You're lucky if you even manage to chip away at it. I am always one for a challenge, but the word implies that there is a possibility of winning. 30rebs vs 8imps is not a challenge, it's an impossibility.
As for bases, Special Forces GCW bases are ridiculous tough. Imagine a base that is essentially filled with 10 NK-Necrosis and 20 of his guards, all of which respawn every 5mins. lvl 95s and 88s are all that fill the high end special forces bases. You need a crew of around 16 people plus the slicer to even have a chance. At that point, one overt could come running in and probably take the entire group.
PvE bases become boring after you drop 2-3 in a row and PvP bases are more about killing the NPCs than playersFinding a large enough group to take a PvP base down is pretty much impossible right now for the Imperials. Hopefully a new mega-Imperial guild will be able to change this as PvP and the GCW is in a difficult state for us right now.
I was going to post this in Mouse Gear's thread as a reply but realized I would be jacking it so I self modded it to here.
Its always been my perception that while the GCW balance is clearly in the hands of the rebel majority what the server needs is a true rebel RP guild. All the good rp based groups I see would in old school A D & D terms be aligned N, NE, or CN. TTF is a great guild that serve as a strong supporter for the Empire, MERCS and MidCo seem to be fine examples of neutrality through commerce, be it a by deed or in the form of traded goods. Where is the organized rebel RP?
I would love to see a welldone rebel force. They would not have to be l33t pvp'ers, but to represent that side of the equation as well as I think TTF represents the opposite side and the way the entrepeneurs hold down
the middle. We have a lot of creative and talented folks here so maybe this is something we might see well done in the future. I know I for one would love such an entity if it were to come to pass. Despite the relative dearth of rebel roleplay here I think its something that can be quite enjoyable. I think though that people as a general rule find it easier to play villains,, opportunists, or anti-heroes.
There was an old Dragon magazine article focusing a lot of roleplaying paladins called "Good Isn't Stupid", well it sometimes is thats to be sure but it doesn't have to be and it can be a lot of fun. Keeping it in a comic theme for analogies Good doesn't have to be as dark as the Punisher or whichever version of Batman they are writing now nor does it have to be as "whitebread" as Superman or Captain America. I think that there can be as many shades of grey contained within those fighting for "Good" as there traditonally are seen within the badguys.
I will close this by saying I would love to give a group like that a chance should one ever arise within our community. I hope that someone will give it a shot as the rebels need to be represented by more then just the hordes of rebel jedi, rebel BH's, and rebel anti-template pvp'ers that seem to be everywhere on Gorath. There are a myriad of different organizational models to choose from just as there are for the other guys,
Good isn't stupid, its just nodded off and is in a really deep REM filled sleep.
