Publish 22: Update regarding fixes not working as intended

We are investigating issues with today's publish where some of the fixes are not working as intended. Once we have more information regarding this problem we will post here.

The xp 'bug' today seems to be doing the following.... most of us thought xp was non-existant because of how the onscreen display was working... if they don't have this fixed by this afternoon... you'll see what I mean. So, xp is, in fact, not borked as we previously thought it was... However, the on screen display for it 'is' borked. Hope that clarifies.

And, there are a bunch of other issues, like Sti-fi just posted... not working as they should be today. Go figure.

Good thing I don't need any XP for either of my toons.

Can you give us an update on the XP that you're currently getting.

Like Weapon XP 4.5k per kill
Combat XP 200 per kill
Jedi Xp 750 per kil

Just so we can see some hard numbers on what the actual impact was?

Here is the heads up on that...

Your system message on screen will simply say :

You've earned Jedi xp (+85%) and sometimes some funky gibberish.


It wasn't saying how 'much'. And to look at a full bar... it was hard to tell that you were getting xp at all solo play... this changed when I tried it out in a group. However, the system messages are borked to all get out!

Hope that clarifies... xp is the same near as I can tell.

Ok that's what I expected. SOE did say they were only adjusting the group bonus and the text display so glad to hear this confirmed now maybe everyone will stop whining.

I've recevied confirmation that it seems the bug Tiggs spoke of was that we were receiving too much group XP yesterday. Now it's my understanding that in a full group kill a picket results in aproximately

Weapons 1k xp
Combat 100 xp
Jedi 200 xp

this is per kill. So it appears that we may again be back at solo grinding professions.

It seems that as of today Group xp has been cut severely. Tiggs is trying to confirm if things are working correctly or not.... of course that's been hours ago with replies like 'Things take time to test...' avoidance answers. Don't be surprised if we see one of two things today....

1) The return of Solo grinding (grouping for those players that can't solo at a, roughly, 50% reduction of xp for being in a group).

2) Server shut down, Again, to reset the xp tonight.


This is getting very rediculous. They should just post the game is in a constant flux of Beta Testing and do away with Test Center if their not going to actually use it for Testing and fixing things 'before' they push them Live. I'm no rocket scientist... but if the servers are the same and it works on one... it should work on the others in exactly the same mannor.

We seem to have a Hot fix comming tomorrow.... with server maintainance... no surprise there... Here's what Tiggs has posted for tomorrow Thursday, Aug 18th, 2005:

On Thursday, August 18th, 2005 at 4:00 AM PDT all servers will be taken down for maintenance and a hot fix update. We expect all servers to return to service at 12:01 PM PDT.

Apprently if you enter the chat room they've established that the XP is in fact a bug. However I'm not sure how reliable that is. As far as I know Tiggs has not confirmed.

Her only response has been their looking into the issue... I wouldn't believe anything they say in chat... They could say Vader is now going to be wearing a Leotard in there.

Extremely bad move on SOE's part then. And... there was 'nothing' in patch notes about 'cutting' xp. I'd like to see their explanation for this one! ::hears many accounts being cancelled:: Hello solo play.

Thye make it nearly impossible to play without a group. But... in order to advance in a time frame that is reasonable to the average player you know have to solo.
