WTF is SOE thinking?

Unfortunately I no longer live with my mom... so that means I don't have enough time to play galaxies and enjoy it.
I am married, have a busy job and bills to pay. I can't possibly expect to continue to enjoy a game that will take months going on years for me to level my character in. I play, at most, 2 hours in a day and I don't even play every day right now. I like playing for those two hours and logging off after accomplishing something. I don't like playing and only "kinda" getting closer to something that will take me 3 more play sessions to complete. Thats lame.
If I still had my full template, I would just count my blessings and log in for the times I wanted to RP. At this point I don't even want to play knowing I could easily get killed by a BH and get set back an entire week of grinding.
I think the XP we got before was too easy. Especially when they foolishly put on double XP so many damn times I can't count. But this nerf was way too harsh. To me, they have basically reversed the core benefits of the CU, most of which was the idea of grouping.
Welcome back to the days of people doing everything they can to fire up their DPS and soloing.

I know ill get yelled at cause im already jedi and such but seriously guys its ridiculous you can grind to level 80 in 24 hours . This game is now just even with all the other mmo's on time it takes for full template and is actually still better than many.

I'm with ya, Jabe. I don't even have a wife, kids, etc, etc... But I 'do' know they've severely messed up the game for the casual gamer that wants to log in and, heaven forbid, have fun grinding out their profession. 1day, 1 week, 1 month.... Fact is... it shouldn't feel 'this' painful on xp. Meaningless grinding is always a bad way to punish or 'fix' anything.
Or, as I like to say... You can pick up and try to polish a turd all you want... it's still a turd! And that's what the xp nerf is... a big old turd!

I have to agree with you both, Jabe and Vreese.
As far as grinding a whole Prof in a day, it's a bit too fast. And this nerf severely hurts us Casual gamers.
Granted i'm on alot at night and grinding is not what I want to do 99% of the time. But not it looks like I have to if I want to keep my goals i had, which i'm not sure if it's worth it any longer.
I never intended on grinding Jedi in three weeks, i wanted to take my time and enjoy it. Now I probably won't and thats not fun for me.
Why play something that isn't fun.

I disagree, we calculated today, that even ina group....
4 hours a day of grinding is initiate to full template jedi in 104 days. Yes that's a long time..but..ITS JEDI
that was without inspiration buff figured in
its jeid..long hard path...no you shouldn't get it ina day or a skillblock in a day either....its a long slow grind, sorry
watches hell freeze over

Umm i umm omg i umm agree with Alonzo.
I grinded jedi so fast it wasnt even right it ridiculous how fast i did it and therfore if anyone does it in even half the time i do the server would have been 90% jedi in less than 6 months so they had to do something geeze

I would like to see these calculations, not that I don't belive ya I'm sure you are right, maybe it'll give some hope I guess.
And DD you had almost more than week of double xp to help you so, not to mention you where on alot then. thats totally two different extremes

DD also exploited the LoS bug on kashyyyk to grind afk and many other things....please don't come on here and talk as if you've earned anything.
Anyway, calulations were:
in a full group a lair spawns a good deal of creatures: we estimated 30 creatures...though it may be even more....at even level (note you could get lev 82 for more xp) you gain roughly 120 xp per kill i've been told as a jedi now....
that's roughly 3600 xp per lair....plus a bonus for the lair that should be roughly 200.... just for sake of argument let's say 4k xp per lair.
Ina full spin group you will do each mission in roughly 5 minutes.
4k X 12 = 48k per hour
add 10% for insp buff that's roughly 52k per hour
52k x 4 = 208k xp in 4 hours.
= 1,456,000 xp in a week (4 hours per day)
i was told you need roughly 25 million to hit full temp..correct me on this if i'm wrong just what i was told.
Looking at roughly 4 months of work to grind jedi to full template at this rate.
Now....these numbers are assuming a constant grind, no stopping to chat....and of course reloading the group on missions cuts into this...but a full spin group also shouldn't take 5 minutes per lair...more like 2.5 the 5 minutes was supposed to help factor in stoppages.
Also: I'm not sure, but i believe this is WITHOUT the group xp bonus factoring in...again..correct me if wrong...looking at upwards of a 25% boost to xp if that's the case.
so yeah..several months to get jedi but hey...its an alpha class...you wanna be more powerful than other at base...work for it.
However, i highly recommend being careful, take advantage of how easy your grind is nowadays as far as vis is concerned...don't do something stupid and get on the terms when its so easy to stay off...
imagine losing 350k xp to a BH now....there's 2 days of work

Well like I said above, it was too easy before - I just think its too hard now. In other games it can take you a long time to level, no big deal - this is how i grew up playing RPG's and such.
Lets take our favorite "other" game, WoW. There are 60 levels to grind out to truly be the equivalent to "full template". Funny thing about that: there are new weapons, moves and other rewards for each level... or in other words some kind of reward SIXTY times on the way there.
Unfortunately, beyond that WoW sucks IMHO.
I just don't find this very exciting anymore. I liked leveling at a resonable rate. I do like the fact that combat XP is 30:1 even if I am trying to help level some friends get to Jedi. Its just my opinion that the reduction of XP is far too drastic. And is strongly apparent that the common player just isn't going to get that grouping is still good. People already are trying to solo again.
The thing that I hate most? Is that we have an entire generation of "kids" that were off for summer and graduated the Jedi academy from start to finish in that time. All this because of SOE's poorly thought out weeks of double XP (which really was quadruple FS XP). Its difficult to argue against the idea that SOE's shiftiness from one extreme to another on XP reveals poorly thought out planning (if there was any planning).
I'd rather just be mostly done with my FS grind right now and have my old template back. At least I would know that Jedi is not something I wanted and have a full set of skills again.

First of all I agree with you. At least to the point that no you shouldn't be able to get CL 80 in 24 hours. However most other MMO's that take longer to grind maybe WoW for instance provides benefits to those casual gamers that allow's them to continue to level at a reasonable rate compared to those that can power grind. SOE does not. Other MMO's also add content as part of your grind to make it enjoyable SOE does not.
The other thing you're missing is we don't want to get CL 80 in 24 hours. But in order to get 3,000,000 XP to get a master box in Jedi at 200 XP a pop we'd have to kill 15,000 creatures. Now if you consider getting buffs, traveling, getting missions, etc. let's say you kill 1 creature per minute. It would take 15,000 minutes or 250 hours to get 1 master box. Now for casual gamers like Jabe and myself who maybe play 10-14 hours a week you're talking about it taking 17-25 weeks to get 1 box.
Now had they halved XP I could have lived with that. But we're currently making only 18% of the XP we were before this nerf so that's an 82% XP nerf. That's a little harsh. I mean I could live with even just getting 45% of the old XP at least things would still be attainable. But 250 hours of grinding for 1 box is neither fun, nor exciting.

It's roughly 36-37 million Jedi XP for a full template. And 4 hours a day is pretty substantial. That's like say I get off work at 5:00 start playing immediately and non stop until 9:00 eat dinner and go to bed. That's not really a casual gamer environment. You're also assuming that for 7 days a week.
Now as I said before I agree it should be harder but not 82% harder. 55% I could live with, I think with the increase to FS exchanges that's more then reasonable.

Alonzo you dont know crap about me you saw me down there one of the only times i ever went down there. I was worth 200k before i went on the webweaver path cause i grinded on pickets 18 hours a day.
Its fun hering the guy that thinks he deserves so much respect but carries himself in a manner that doesn't deserve it talk so much crap about everyone. There are pages and pages of you insulting or yelling at people that have been rping just as long as you or longer about stuff that you shouldn't even have your nose in. How bout you stop worrying about insulting others and start worrying about the impression your leaving people with your attitude

Alonzo, DD is agreeing with your stance on the xp issue and yet you still feel compelled to take an unprovoked shot at him, I don't think that was neccesary. Of course now that you have he has responded and you will in turn, yay way to go!!!
