Not bad, but I have to say that if I didn't already know how the general story turns out then I wouldn't be that interested with this show. It's only the first episode so I'll give it some time...

Good initial battle scene with a Roman line that rotated against the enemy like a slow chainsaw. Fun to watch. Fine writing, fine acting, great sets and atmosphere. I think with this one it was the directing that left the story a little slow. Still not bad, but not really engaging. The sets steal the show in my opinion.

I liked it, but the general pace of the episode found me wandering into the kitchen from time to time because the story was having a hard time sucking me in. I liked the acting a lot and the characters, but the plot just kinda seemed to plod along after about the first 10 mins. I'll give it a few more episodes because they did have a lot of characters to introduce and the first episode may have suffered because of that.

Well! It looks like the number "13" was very unlucky for some Romans last night!

If you're reading this, but not a fan of this show, odds are that you still like some nice down and dirty combat. The arena fight in last night's episode goes beyond Gladiator. Oh, damn! Watch out for the skull head mace!
