hmmm... Let's not bring too much of that here. I like these forums.

SW purists dislike jedi because there are more common than sand on Tatooine. They totally disrupt the "realism".

PVP'ers dont like them because they get too much love from the dev's when they "should be working on ..." blah blah blah.

Many people hate them becasue the camp the popular spots.

Many people are just plain jealous.

I guess all in all, very few people can say the presence of Jedi in this game have actually enhanced their gaming experience (aside from those who have their own). You'd think that Jedi would be the coolest thing.. well.. for so many reasons they are not.

I don't hate the player jedi in game but when I started playing I decided I did not want to have a jedi or in any way be associated with the jedi. they are rare and are supposed to be in hiding. Neither thing seemed to me to be the purpose of the game. What has happened is we have jedi dueling, FOR FUN, in the open and in major cities.

There are some I like that do RP their characters and do stay in the shadows. I salute them but at the same time I find it sad that they play a game as a hermit. Perhaps that is what they enjoy. I do not. When I want to be a jedi I play KOTOR.

So it is not hate, it is personal preference.

Actually You know that Guy Artie.. I think he is a Jedi.. He doesn't act like one but I bet he is just not telling anyone.. He can RP his ass off though...

My hatred for the jedi stems back before SWG came out. Even in KOTOR and all the other games with sabers and such, I used blasters over the saber. They're not the all powerful gods a lot of people try to make them out to be. That, and I've encountered very very few people who could possibly RP a jedi. Cloesest your average joe will get is to a really goofy sith. That's why I deny the playing of jedi in any of my RPs. There's more, but my hatred of the jedi runs deep.

ROFL - you just descirbed Coiyonite to a tee.

I rp'd myself as a Sith thinking this would be a temp character for a short event and it turns out that fate and SOE decided otherwise. So I will be Coiyonite for the long haul.

Now I gotta find some solid rp reasons that I am not a Sith anymore!

RPing a jedi shouldn't be hard and I don't get why so many people have trouble with it. Wait, I take that back. I can see exactly why people have trouble with it. They either think they're Darth Vader's older meaner brother or they think their Yoda's smarter uncle.

So far, I've found one person RPing a jedi well (I'll give Joan the nod for 2 because if she wouldn't have said here she was a jedi, I would have never known). People just have to realize that Jedi aren't all badasses or know it alls. Go from there and they should be fine.

Oh, all the jedi hate stems from them farming overts. Go to Theed during peak times and I will guarantee you will see at least one light jedi knight (usually a group of 3, though) just standing at the starport, waiting to kill someone.

I can really feel the love. I've been called hundreds of names over my duration as a Jedi. When out in the open I try to remain in character. More often healing then fighting. If someone particularly valueable to my story is attacked I will throw down.

Anytime a LS showes it's glint there's always someone to scream about it no matter what the user was doing.

I'm not a great RPer, but I don't trashtalk. I really wish that I could get a break from the haters. Someone to look at how I'm acting versus the stereotype.

That raises a good point. Jinx used to be neutral or even disbelieving about Jedi but now I guess she's seen a little too much. So far she has only seen aggressive Jedi apparently flaunting their abilities and attacking others without reason, with only one or two exceptions. It seems that in these dark times, a Jedi with no Jedi order, is worse than no Jedi. So she agreed to join the Bounty Hunters Guild as doctor support. If only there did appear to be a decent Jedi...

That's how I have to look at it anyways. Inside, I'm screaming at how uncommonly common Jedi are.

I shall try not to let any bitterness show through. I have several Jedi friends in my guild , and none of them are the a**hole kind. But still, it seems a tad unbalanced

1. Lets not forget the fact that Jedi can now have other combat skills along with their jedi powers, making what once was a single profession, turn into a dabbler profession, where Jedi can kit themselves using fencer skill mods or TKA Meditation/force of will ect..especially when Jedi were uber already as it was.

I know exactly what you're talking about. Dasumi used to refer to Jedi as an ancient and dead religion but that's hard now with Jedi everywhere.

Well, today she sees Jedi more as a new group of force users, like the NS, that adapted the name and some of the fighting styles of the old Jedi order but hardly any of their believes. There are exceptions though, but these are mostly single individuals.

SOE has made some very stupid decisions with dealing with Jedi that has disrupted everyones play. The system that SOE came up to make Jedi available to the player catered to the power gamer. So now the game is full of power gamer Jedi.

SOE then had to undo those mistakes and all the other professions needs have been put on hold. Heaping on more hate.

Also, I hate to say it Wey, but the Mafia Jedi camp the geo caves all the time. Or they did for a while. When a bunch of friends get all buffed and head to the Geo caves only to find it empty and a group of jedi standing around waiting for the next spawn... that does not foster love.

Hate for a Jedi player simply because they are playing a Jedi is wrong. The Jedi players are just playing the game that SOE made.

If the Jedi player is being a poor player, blame the player, not the profession.

My take is that until I see someone act like a Jedi, they are not a Jedi.

Someone running around with force powers and a lightsaber is just that. Nothing more.

A Jedi is so much more than that. It is a way of life, a philospohy, a belief system. Ekade has yet to encounter a Jedi.
