you've been stranded on a desert island...
and you decided to say "fuck it" and open the fed ex box with the angel wings on it...in it is a solar powered CD player and your one favorite album to pass the years with, since no one is going to pick your ass up...
what's the album?

Something instrumental so that I could compose and recompose my own lyrics indefinitely. I'm going to go with The Undaunted by Marlon Jordan. One of my favorite jazz albums.

The
Amelie Soundtrack. Go accordians!!! It's infinitely inspiring to me, with the myriad of unique layered sounds in each track. It's also pretty distinctly "French" sounding and reminds me of the movie...which is one of my favorite movies and inspiring for other reasons....so lotsa reasons. But I find it a marvel of sound every time I listen to it.

Ya know, anything you pick you are going to hate. At least eventually. I would pick something like "Barney sings the hits", prompting me to want to destroy the cd player and salvage the parts for something useable.
Like maybe make the laser into a super laser to hunt monkeys and open coconuts and the like. You know...pretty standard stuff.

I figure if I'm stuck there I might as well make the best of it, so I'm going with Jimmy Buffet's
Meet me in Margaritaville: The ultimat Collection 2 cd set...
basically a "when in rome" sorta thing...
if, for some reason, you are unfamiliar with JB...you can listen to them here...

I think I'd have to go with the 2 CD set of U2's greatest hits from the 80's and 90's I believe. Too bad it wasn't a DvD player...

I was debating a lot on what I would pick, but I figured most of my music is dark and angry, and when you're sitting on an island for years alone, you'd have plenty of that already, and then you'd REALLY use the noose he set up on that big hill...
so make the best of it with some island music...

Well, If self-help CDs like E-bo's are disallowed. Then the complete works of any classical composer. Because...
My experience with classical music is limited and it would be new to me at first. If I pick my favorites, they would pretty much NOT be my favorites very soon.
They would offer a complex score for me to try to pick apart and analyze.
They would offer a good backdrop to make up my own stories and lyrics to and create my own entertainment.

Since I can't say I have a favorite (I pretty well love a little bit of everything); I'd probably be stuck with something I thought was catchy at the time....
"It's not unusual to fall in love with anyone! It's not unusual to....." You get the idea I think.
.....it's not unusual to see me cry as I bash this cd player over, and over, and over on the rock after the ninth week of exile!

Oh it would have to be my favorite independant album of this year. Its called "Help" and the lyrics are quite easily to sing along with...
"HELP GET ME OFF THIS @$%#ING ISLAND!"
Play it loud.

I just have to say that the best post in this thread would be a toss up between E-bo and Seret, both made me laugh here at work...I'm now getting stares, better go.
