SciFi Top 50

I was getting real mad at this list til I hit the top 3... But I am curious what others here think of their choices:

well, I don't have the time to scroll page by page through all 50...wish they had a list...so I looked at the top 10, and it seems about right, although sg-1 I didn't think was that good, and the new BSG at #2? right after original Star Trek...that seems incredibly high...

And I thought X-files shoulda been higher

I am actually quite pleased to see BSG at #2 even though it seems premature to judge it overall, it is the best scifi I have seen in a very very long time. And I do agree with it outranking ST:TNG only by 1 place. They top 3 choices made me happy but I am just wondering if most would tend to agree.

The new BSG show honestly is about one of the best shows on TV, regardless of Sci-Fi or not. I don't think I was ever so hooked on a show.

I was glad to see Bab5 made the top 10 too.

I thought Firefly warranted better than #17 but with only one season and now a movie, I guess that's fairly high billing to be in the top of the group of 50.

But where the hell is Farscape? They list some really strange shows (not that I'm the Sci-Fi expert) and Farscape was a tremendous show. It had great characters, compelling stories, most episdoes had great plot twists -- and it doesn't even win over whatever the heck Space 1999 is? And this Stargate: Atlantis show makes #26 and it just makes me yawn and flip to junk TV because the characters and stories seem boring to me. Is anyone else outraged or did I flip past it somehow?

I too wondered where Farscape was, and as a Trek fan no way Voyager should be that high and DS9 not be on the list at all. Other shows I would have pushed onto the list wouldhave been Kindred the Embrace, the Flash, Highlander the Series (Adrian Paul FTW! eat that Lambert!), Night Stalker, Adventures ofr Briscoe County Jr, to name a few.

Most lists are very subjective but this one seems almost like the old college football ranking system was used. Meh.

I'd agree with some of Zyre's mentions of omissions and add to that Lost In Space. I mean, it wasn't the greatest show but some of the other tripe that they picked still made the list. I wasn't a huge Lost In Space fan but how can you not have the show that spawned "Danger, Will Robinson! DANGER!" ?

Nice trip down memory lane though.

EDIT: I'd be interested to see AFI's Top List if they'd ever do one for Sci-Fi TV.

as a kid I watched Lost in Space EVERYDAY...the b/w and color episodes

How can that tv show NOT be in the Top 50, while westerns make it in?!??!? what do westerns have to do with sci fi?????

I am a big SG-1 fan. I don't know if its top ten of all time but I would watch it over Star Trek TOS. Just because I have seen every episode of Star Trek SO many times.

Looking at just the top ten I was a bit befuddled.

Sliders!?! I watched it and had to get about a season into it before I'd even give it a chance; and wound up dreading even hearing the previews to next weeks 'exciting' episode. It blew to me.

Babylon 5 I 'loved' because it was so well thought out; I think DS9 kind of shares this spot in ranking for me.

Some classics like the Twilight Zone and light hearted stuff like Mystery Science Theater 3000 I was surprised to see on the list as well.

The battle between Trek and BSG may get a run for their money 'if' this Bounty Hunter themed Star Wars series can prove to be better than the movies; That, we will have to wait and see though.

Till then, Frack! Let's watch some Sci-fi!

The Twilght Zone barely cracks the top 10? What's up with that?!? There were a few on there I could agree with, I think Futerama was a bit low, and Lois and Clark, come on that was my favorite show as a kid.

I also think X-Files should have beaten out Next Generation for at least the #3 spot. That show was a long running and very popular series. Probably my favoirte show in High School.

I agree. Quinn was cute, which I guess was the reason to watch. And the military girl in it too for the guys. But the stories and characters just seemed too simple to be pulled in.

The couple episodes of Quantum Leap (I know, very different) were much more interesting as characters and stories developed. I can't quite put my finger on it.

I'm right there with Skor on the lost in space. (we seldom agree on anything) I watched episode after episode of that show, and it almost never got old to me. The movie with Matt LeBlanc and all them was pretty cool, and I expected sequels or something, but it ended up being a STARZ staple, and I have seen that movie almost more than anything else I can remember, just because it was playing over and over, back to back, and I thought the effects were cool, and the chics were kinda hot.
The new robot that Will made was sucky compared to that awesome version they started with. Damn was it sweet, it reminded me more of the evil robot from the show.

Doctor Smith just wasn't evil enough, and they developed his character wrong through the movie. He was to much of an obvious villian, and not enough of a wimp.

Is land of the giants on the list somewhere? I don't think I was ever really excited about that show, but it would certainly rank above westerns.

Westerns on a Sci Fi list reminds me of when I was at the OU vs. Penn game and OU had signs saying "beat wisconsin" and started chanting "beat Wisconsin"

I dont think they even play them.
