A Question About My Character

Post Reply
When I eventually return I want to get more involved in RP with those of you here. My previous problem was that I was on durring the day when very little RP wise was going on. My question to you: How is Jerrel Huntsmen precieved buy the community?

The answers to this question will let me know how much if anything I can change about Jerrel. I have a personal standard to always acknowledge what has transpired IC and I consider disregaurding my characters precieved reputation, simply because I dont want to play it anymore, unacseptible.

Well, without a chance to RP with you very much it is really hard to say. I don't have enough info.

Your other outlet is to post RP stories that help us to get to know your character. I'll RP with you, or anyone else, in game or out (via the RP forum). :D

Back when you were considering joining Lunatic Fringe <LF> (a failed attempt at starting my own guild a long time ago) I was first impressed that you were a roleplayer and secondly that you were very in character and interested in the aspect of Bounty Hunting at the time.

Now, we haven't touched bases in a very long time... So, I can only reflect on the encounters in Anchorhead from when I was a Rebel.

What struck me was... you didn't seem the silent bounty hunter type whom preferred to hide behind armor. At least; back then as I recall. Of course, I think you were a Rebel at the time as well.

My impression... based on the past is that your more bounty hunter than mercenary. You weren't a hired gaurd or some such... you 'were' a bounty hunter pure and true. I recall you wanted to set up a network for bounty hunters in the guild (if it'd ever taken off...) and I loved the idea.

Maybe you could come back as a Bounty Hunter's Guild representative of some sort? Only thing I can think of... if your still a Rebel... a counter agent... I think that would work just as well.

I think it's best not to worry about how you or your character is perceived by the community. That can lead to a lot of paranoia and anxiety which isn't ever fun for anyone.

I think maybe what is best for everyone to do when wondering how you affect the RPing community and how you can be more involved with the RPing community is talk to the people you want to be involved with. Don't ask them, what do I do wrong?--ask how you can be more involved, what you can do to help, and if you insert yourself into someone else's plot line, make sure that it's okay with them OOC.

Certainly don't worry about this while you're out of game, Jerrel--you'll just stress yourself out. There's plenty of RP and events just waiting to happen when you get back, and that's when you should get excited about it.

I'm not worried bout how I had RPed. I ask because I'm considering reinveting Jerrel. His Bio will remain the same but I'm contiplating playing up his CorSec ties. To do this though I would have to throw out somethings he did (ie: the Slave Event). If these actions I took have made an inpact on my fellow players I would like to know. I'd like to avoid the "that wasn't really me, I was just playing as an NPC," doge. I know playing an NPC now and then is important because we dont have very many people who want their character to be guard #2, but I want to avoid having to say I was an NPC durring that time if my impact was more than margenal.

There is no problem with reinventing your character's personality. People change over time and realistically characters do as well. Just remember that like people, characters will change gradually, slowly...and usually change is marked by some sort of catalyst. Think of things that change us and change the directions of our lives IRL. Deaths, illnesses, brushes with death, religious experiences, family members, lovers, or friends leaving our lives, or sudden job changes, passions over taking us into political or philosophical fervors, or even just reading an amazing book or seeing a movie that can change your outlook on life.

As you're out of the game right now, you have the opportunity to make a major change to Jerrel and explain it with his absence if you wish. Just try to avoid bad cliches like being conked on the head and losing your memory.

Actually, as a covert CorSec agent, you won't have to throw out the slave event. You cauld have been trying to build credibility with the underground.

Thats a good take I haven't thought of. I never really looked at other ways to interprit the slave event because it was originally designed to be a catalist for several other events that never panned out due to my absence and really a lack of resources to pull what was planned off.
