Now that Lucas prequell trillogy is over what would you have done diffrently? If you could travel back in time when the script for Episode 1 was being writen what would you have told Lucas to do, if he was inclinded to lissen to you?
Because I know some one may take this thread wrong:
Flame Disclaimer
This is an exsersise in creativity. This is in no way a way to critisize Lucas or any of the writers that worked on the Prequells. Many of us on SWGTales enjoy writing and this is an other way to express our creativity.

My two cents...I wouldn't have made Anakin an immaculate conception, wouldn't have made the Force sensitivity a virus, goes without saying what happens to Jar Jar, and I wouldn't have ended the final battle on a flaming lava world -- if anything because that's what everybody knew was going to happen for years.

I would've went against the grain and tried to film as much of the movie as possible to 'look' and 'feel' like the originals. Yes, a lot happens in 30 years.... but the visual of a cleaner looking and somehow more technilogically advanced prequel wasn't what I would've gone for.
Otherwise... I think a good portion of it would've been dead on. I'd take out Gungans and probably just 'redo' the entire concept with the Wookies being at the 'end' of Episode 6.

Some background
The Jedi have dewindled. For some reason there are fewer and fewer potential jedi found and now their numbers are in the hundreds. Due to the lower number and the possibility of war on the horizon the order has relaxed its requierments for new padawans.
Palpatine has expanded the Sith. Now instead of a master and student the Sith consist of the master, a knight, and many soldiers. They still remain in the shadows but they number alittle under a hundred.
The Republic has grown stagnet and corrupt. Several hundred years ago Humans were oppresed by some in the Republic but now they have grown in number and over half the Senate is Humans. Human xenophobia has grown.
Angry over coruption and the Human majority some systems have left the Republic and some systems, lead by the Mandalorians, have threatened to over throw the corrupt government.
Anikin Skywalker would be a few years younger than Obi-Wan and a few years older than Padame. He would be an orphan that works on a smuggling ship as a mechanic and pilot. He would be jaded, streetwise, and have a good soul.

Episode One: The Phantom Menace
It opens with Bail Organa and Padame being sent to meet with the Separatist to talk them out of war. They are accompanied by Qui-gon and his padawan Obi-wan. They don't make it though. They are attacked by an unidentified ship and are forced to escape in a shuttle. They land on Tatooine and meet Anikin who gets his captain to give them passage back to Coursacant for a hefty fee. Before they leave Darth Maul attacks them but they are able to get away. When they get back they find out that the Separatist where also attacked and that they are blaming the Republic. It is reviled that the Separatist, lead by the Mandalorians, have been creating a clone army and that the Republic has one month before they attack. The Jedi council sends Qui-gon and Obi-wan back out to learn who attacked them and the Separatist, they are forced to take Organa and Padame along and Qui-gon convinces Anikin to accompany them.
Their investigation leads them to Naboo where they discover that a small army has taken over the planet. They are shot down but are able to flee the search parties that are sent out to retrieve any survivors. The group meets up with some gurilla resistance and learns that their senator, Papatine, is being held captive in the capital. They mount a three pronged attack that hits this army in orbit, at the capital, and on the streets of a major Naboo city. Qui-gon is killed by the general on the planet, Darth Maul, and in turn he is killed by Obi-wan. Padame and Organa help send out a distress call to the Republic, and Anikin helps destroy the enemy's flag ship but the rest of the ships flee when Republic ships appeared in system.
When everything quiets down Obi-wan is made Knight, Anikin is taken as his padawan, Qui-gon is buried, and it is reviled that the Clone Wars have begun while the group was fighting this unknown force, rumored to be the Sith.

That my friend, is something that I would rather have seen.
My version would have at least one samurai, or at least a samurai like jedi.
Gungans... no.
Insane battles, with no concept of budget? yes.
Focus on urban Clone combat, smarter better droids, ship-to-ship boarding parties. Need I say more?
Jerrel, you come up with a plot, with lots of battles, and I will coreograph them.

The 3 years between PM and AotC
We find the galaxy in war. The Sepratist Clones have gotten the better of the Republic droid army battle after battle.
The Jedi have been broken into two schools of thought. One remains by the side of the Republic reasoning that the galaxy must retain order. The other side believes that any system that wishes to suceed from the Republic has the right to do so. Either side they choose the jedi find themselves dispersed throughout the galaxy fighting as generals for the Republic and the Sepratist forces.
Chancilor Volrum's carrer is on the block as the Human Senate insist that a clone army be created to counter the Mandalorian clones. The head proponet of this messure is the Naboo Senator, Palpatine, who has gained politiacl capital from the taking of Naboo, first by unknown forces and recently the Sepratist.
Padame and Aninkin Skywalker have begun a relationship that is kept hidden from the Jedi order. Bail Organa and Mon Montha has become a mentors to the young senators, Padame.
After having a hand in the rescue of Senator Palpatine, Anikin and Palpatine have developed a gandfather-grandson relationship. Anikin perscribes to Palpatines iron fist attitude to dealing with the Sepratist.
The Jedi Council has determined that Darth Maul was taught by the Sith but was not a Sith lord and has desided to send Master Kenobi and Padawan Skywalker behind enemy lines to Iridonia to learn who was Darth Maul.

Episode Two: Attack of the Clones
Obi-wan and Anikin arrive over Iridonia disguised as two gun runners working for the Separatist. They arrive in system and soon learn that Darth Maul was an orphaned Zabrak that was whisked away by a jedi calling himself Sidious.
While on the planet Anikin decides to sabotage a Separatist weapons munition. It doesn't go off well and once Obi-wan learns what happened the two of them are on the run. While trying to avoid Clone patrols, a dark jedi calling herself Veetres (Clone Wars cartoon woman), and get passage off planet Obi-Wan spots Padame speeking with the local official. Obi-wan confront her and she confesses that she has sided with the Separatist. She pleads with him to say nothing and tells him of the path the Republic has taken. Worlds taken back by the Republic have reported that its non-human citizens have been reduced to second class citizens. In some cases the non-human citizens have been forced to work in camps to produce weapons. Obi-wan sense the truth in her words and promises to say nothing.
Obi-wan and Anikin leave the planet and are able to make it back to Republic space. They report what they found to the council and Obi-wan takes it upon himself to look into the reports of abuse by the Republic. Anikin is called upon by the council to lead a attack force on what is believed to be the Separatist command post on Ryloth.
A vote of no confidence is caste and Volrum is taken out of power and Papatine becomes Supreme Chancellor. He declares there to be a clone army commissioned and requests executive privilege so he may finish what Volrum started, the Senate gladly gives it to him.
Anikin arrives to learn that there is only a small fleet there. They quickly wipe them out but something is wrong. Anikin orders one of the captured rouge jedi brought before him. He rips what information he needs from the jedi's mind and finds out that this was a lure while a vast armada attacks Coursacant. Meanwhile Obi-wan learn that the accusations are true. It was well hidden from the jedi but the Republic has committed these crimes.
Anikin rushes back to Cursacant to find the Separatist fleet in orbit. Soon he learns that former Chancellor Volrum and now Chancellor Palpatine have been taken aboard the Separatist flag ship. Just then Obi-Wan returns and heads for Anikins flag ship where the two agree that they need to get on the flag ship and save the two men. They get on the ship and fight through several waves of clones and find that the former jedi, Count Dukoo, has been the one leading the Separatist. Anikin and Obi-Wan accuse him of being the Sith who taught Maul while he tries to convice them to join him. During all of this a shackled Palpatine and free Vorlum watch. Obi-wan is knocked out and Anikin, at the urging of Palpatine, kills Dukoo. Palpatine then tell Anikin to kill Volrum that this whole war was his fault. After a brief contemplation Anikin executes Volrum and latter blames Dukoo for it.
With the back of the Separatist broken Obi-wan is convinced by Anikin that the Republic will return to the ways before the war and that these wrongs he's seen will be made write. Anikin becomes a master by the request of Palpatine. The Republic Clone Army is created to clean up the remains of the Separatists. Montha, Organa, and Padame return to the senate floor to watch and see if the Republic under Palpatine will turn away from oppression.

Well I would have made Anakin act more like he did in all of the older star wars movies more to anger and not crying about his lightsaber being to blue. No I would have never invented the gungans and would have saved Qui Gon for at least till Episode 2.
I would have changed the Technology to where it is less advanced just because even when things were at their best technology should have only improved yet it somehow declined?
As mentioned before I would have just said nay to episode 1-3 and just went on with the Thrawn books but seeing as episode three was kick butt I would have to sacrifce the dream of the thrawn books becoming movies.
Would have not had the whole droids thing because the droids in my thoughts were very dumb and should have made some other faction.
Would have not had Jango killed would have had him killed in episode three because there is alot to him and they could show off more of Boba becoming a Bounty hunter. Though I am a Fett freak.
Anyhow Would have gone with Jedi fighting as they did in the old star war because you see Vader fight in episode six and compair it with eipsode three it puts him to shame in six. Even though the battles are more accurate in three with saber combat it just dose not make sense, even with his gear slowing him down he still could move fairly well.
I do not know I am not GL and do not want to be. I would not change anything to be honost because you are still stepping on someones toes.

In my prequels everything would be spelled correctly.

I have to say that I like the prequels. In my list of favorite SW movies, Empire is first, then comes Phantom Menace. I know I'm far in the minority here, but personally I love what Phantom Menace offers that makes it very "classic" SW to me, despite what it may lack in dialogue or have in excess with CG graphics.
Here's my list of what it has...and what it parallels in parenthesis.
--it has a great Master/Padawan relationship (Kenobi/Luke)'
--it has a political element with both ambassadors and Senate (Leia as an ambassador...I think of it every time I hear Palpatine say, "The negotiations haven't started because the ambassadors aren't there?")
--it has a mystical element to the Force with the immaculate conception, however unlikely it may seem (Yoda and Dagoba...honestly midiclorians have never really bothered me much)
--Tatooine! Podracers! Tatooine gives me an innate sense of "Star Wars"
--it has a colorful cantina scene (duh)
--it fuses low technology cultures with high technology cultures in a way that seems realistic and plausible for the universe, and I really like that because it seems like it would be a real issue to overcome for the SW galaxy (Ewoks, Wookies, Tusken Raiders)
--helpless pawns!! It doesn't get into it so much until further in the prequels, but poor Jar Jar, poor Nute Gunray!!! (Leia, Han, Chewie, C3P0 at Cloud City....Lando....the entire freaking Rebel fleet in RotJ up until they bring the generator down. The Sith do "pownd" real well)
Mmmyeah so that's what I got. There's a lot of other things I like about the prequels, but there's the big reasons why I like Phantom Menace as a favorite. I think I'll put it on now while I write my paper proposal.
