Friendly advice i swear guys:
LUCK, you need to inform your guildies there is a war. We were verbally assaulted several times today for "cheating" by your guildies only to find out its because they had no idea they were even in war, so they thought we were somehow cheating to attack them.
They have no clue we're another rp guild, and had no clue you guys are an rp guild either from the ones we talked to.
I say this only to offer help, in the past some officers of ttf recruited people who would NEVER have been accepted by me or the higher officers and so maybe that's what happened here as to the extent of the immaturity of some of these guys.
At the same time i can't blame them for being upset if their leadership forgot to mention they are ina guildwar.
Now i'm not flaming, maybe you sent guildmails and if its anything like TTF half the members go "oh new mail, *delete*" but just doing this to inform you guys if you aren't aware of the situation.
Again, promise this is in good faith and tone.
PS: If you are an rp/non-rp guild and allow non rp members too which might be the case, that's fine and all, but please don't have these guys comign to our city and spamming obscenities and such.
Please believe me this is ina friendly tone, not a flame
Given what you posted about this same subject on the Gorath forum and I quote
""So we are at war with LUCK as well, another smaller guild. We are killing them left and right all day when finally half of them start cussing us like crazy, insulting, etc.
Now this is supposed to be another RP guild, they claimed they wanted this war for rp stuff as they are reb and ttf is mostly imp.
So when the insane cussing and insulting started we were just left scratching our heads.
Then we found out why...the oh so wonderful leadership of LUCK didn't even bother to tell their members they were at war. We were accused of cheating for attacking them without /duels and everything. All in all at least 3-4 members quit on them today, and i would too if my guildleader didn't even bother to tell me he was putting me in a war lol.
Anyway, just a humorous story to us, thought we'd share."
I think its safe to say people usually have good reason to be skeptical of
any thread you start "Believe me this is in a friendly tone, not a flame"
If you want to be constructive PM or email the people you intended yer SWG Tales post for, oh that is unless you just wanted everyone to read it.
You have a lot of great ideas and can be a strong leader but many times people cannot see the message past the very flawed delivery method.
Zzzzzz

Let's keep personal messages to private PMs, please.
Instead of turning this into a back-and-forth flamefest, why don't we discuss what good tips could be for any guild when entering a guildwar?

the gorath boards and this board are separate, this post was meant in good faith. But after the constant assault by members of LUCK, i couldn't help but chuckle about it and share the story on the gorath boards.
How would you like the TTF guys to constantly call you every name in the book and threaten to report you just because their leders didn't mention a war. Now i am not going to turn this thread into a flame war, thank you for posting something from the gorath boards here as its an entirely different matter.
And why didn't I PM? Well i don't even know what LUCK guys read this so how am i supposed to just PM. But hey, keep digging up trouble Zyre, really.

I see one good tip right off the bat--make sure all your members know you're entering the guildwar. Discuss it with your guild and make sure everyone wants to be a part of it. Understand thoroughly any terms of engagement that might be understood as part of the guild war so there's less of a chance for misunderstanding between opposing guild members.
What're some other good things to offer up, maybe for RP guilds thinking about guild war or just ideas for dealing with low level players, stuff like that?

I'd split thread and just state what you said, Dwilah. All that needs to be said on Guild Wars, the details of the 'War' aside, is as how you've described. It's the Leaders responsibility to inform the guild of the War and who their fighting; anything else is an enternal problem.Dwilah wrote:I see one good tip right off the bat--make sure all your members know you're entering the guildwar. 1) Redundant Statement: Guild Leaders make sure 'everyone' in guild knows their at War and whom their fighting.
Dealing with low level players is a tuffy... CL54 'can' take on CL 80 depending on many varibles. But, there are non-combatants and the margin of CL does eventually end up at the CL 80 wins against CL 1 statement.
Though it 'is' a little bit of a hassle I'd almost encourage an internal agreement with your lower CL guild members to leave guild for the duration of the War. This does present a problem because even for a 'one week' event... this may cause those players to simply go elsewhere and not return to your guild.
The most important dynamic I can offer here is simply keep the lines of communications open with your guildmates, as a guild leader, and ensure communication and agreements have been reached with the other guild leaders participating in said 'War' has had time to inform their guild before the Warring starts. A 2-3 day buffer zone to do in guild mails and make sure word of mouth can be spread over guild chat 'might' help this process a little more than just jumping into things.
For 'Factioned' Guild Wars... I'd almost suggest setting up agreed upon War Zones outside of the popular NPC City spots. Set up two opposing faction bases and War at a predetermined date so both sides have time to gather their forces. It may take a postponment of the event a day or two depending on RL. But it does work.
All I have for now.

Well the guild war you are talking about is different then what Mercs intend to do, we are gonna ask for Guild wars so that we can add a new lvl of immersion, not an actual open war on whoever. Tho I do have my eye on a small guild in a city on lok. But you can always do like TTF and make a sub guild for anyone open for war and those not.Sai'nu wrote:Primarily:Dwilah wrote:What're some other good things to offer up, maybe for RP guilds thinking about guild war or just ideas for dealing with low level players, stuff like that?

Hmmmm. I know a small guild in a city on Lok. A city that I happen to be mayor of... Could this be the same guild in the same city????????KirtViza wrote:Well the guild war you are talking about is different then what Mercs intend to do, we are gonna ask for Guild wars so that we can add a new lvl of immersion, not an actual open war on whoever. First off the Devs really need to add an opion for guild members. When you first log on after a guildwar is declared you are given a system message telling you who and why. You would be then prompted to either join in the guild war or not. This would give people with lower CLs the choice of not joining the war and not having to leave their guild.
Falling short of that several things need to be agreed upon for the guild war.
1) Safe zones-areas that combat will not occure (ie the city in which a guild resides in).
2) CL partisipation-What CL's are open game for attack (ie. CL's 60-80) anything lower is off limits.
3) Punishment-What are the penalties for breaking the agreed upon terms (Guild bands, being kicked out of a guild, monetary punishment*).
Monetary Punishment--If a guild agrees to a set of terms and their members break those terms and the guild does noting to punish the offenders in their guild the guild then must be punished. Prior to declaring guild war an imparsial 3rd party should be given a predetermined amout from the guild leaders of both guilds. If a guild refuses to punish their members then the amount is forfited to the other guild and the guild war is imediatly ended.
These are just working ideas and nor should they be the final idea in the disscusion about guild war rules.

You are a monk

Wait a minute... We've been here before... no ringers added to the roster just for the war

I should add that it's still being debated amongst us. Batak is on a laggy dial-up and PvP usually means LD. He was LDing at Casino last Sun. and had to leave just because of the number of people. E-bo has the same sort of problem.
Nothing is more frustrating than the screen locking up, listening to the fight music and then being greeted with cloning options.

Dariis: give us a tag to war and its on
we're even declared against kreetles if they'd ever want to for some reason lol. We just pretty much declared every RP guild enemy so that there's no delay if they wish to war

Could we please have a special forum for flaming then? By flaming, at least we can see who the true ass-hats really are. They want to be asses, then no one will interact with them. Simple as that.
