Skor's Question of the Week (10/2)

This is a true story...
You go to the gas station to get a few gallons so you can make it home. The gas station (like most others now) are pre-pay pumps, meaning you have to go inside and pay before you pump the gas, to avoid "gas n go's."
so you go inside, stand in a long-ass line of people buying their groceries, buying scratch off lottery ticket after ticket until they get a loser, and assorted crap, when all you want to do is get your gas and get the hell home because you have 1.5 hours to go...
So you finally make it to the register and pay $10 to get a few gallons ($2.98/gall) and go back outside to pump to your gas. You get the gas started and then go clean the bugs off your windshield...you get done, put the pump handle back, and are about to get back in your car and notice something....the cashier put in the wrong amount into the pump, and you got $15 worth instead of $10 (or an extra 1.6 gallons)
What do you do?
go back inside and wait in line and pay them $5 more?
drive off and say "fuck you" the the oil companies and their record profits?
vote and explain

Go back inside and pay. It's not the gas station owner's fault gas prices are high and you weren't paying attention.

Well in Oregon by law only gas station attendents can pump cash you just hand them the cash from your window (unless you use a card which i never do) and sit tight. That way there are less mistakes. I like it that way atleast.

Go back in and pay because the judge won't care that the attendant screwed up when he is sentencing you.

Go back in and pay because it's much less hassle to deal with than if you don't.
Consequently though... if it 'is' the store's screw up... just like a bank... it's usually suppose to work in the customer's favor.
Moral judgement call on this one I think.

Go back inside and pay.
--It's the right thing to do.
--You can lose your license for driving off at the pump (at least in AL).
--By driving off, you're contributing and perpetuating to that pain in the ass problem of having to pay-before-you-pump.

The pump stops at the amount the cashier told it to pump. So if they put in 15 bucks by mistake, its their bad.
In reality I would probably settle up with the cashier by cutting to the front of the line, letting them know they goofed and paying without waiting again. But for the most part I dip my bank card in at gas station pumps and haven't used cash in years. I hate dealing with cashiers at gas stations so I just do that.

Well Since this happened to me, I would leave. They Mess up its on them, I worked at a Gas station befor and I was told that if I mess up and put too much on the pump its my fault end of story if the guy wants to come in and pay for it thats kool, otherwise nothing I can do about it.
I actually paid for 10 and got 21 once and the gas guy waved me off and said dont worry about it, not hard to say the pump was messed up and no I didnt know the guy.

You mean you actually gave it a second thought? It's not about gas prices. You paid for your gas and the attendant screwed up. Why would you owe them $5 for their error?
Drop it into "D" and drive.

ROFL!!
I use my card... I hate the cash register hastle... and usually if there isn't pay at the pump I wont use that station.
Really I need more information to answer this question. Like, am I already pissed off from a long string of crap throughout the day, and do I have thick black glasses and D-FENS on my liscence plate? Cause if thats the case I would probably take a ball bat to everyone I saw.

I like gas station attendent people. They're always really interesting and you usually have a 50/50 chance of them being friendly and outgoing or creepy and scary. Either way, it's like a little adventure going into the minimarts.

LOL, Dwilah! That's down there. Up here, if they are female then they look bored and call you "Hun." If they are male and over 18, they look bored, pinched or angry and prefer not to talk unless a police car just drove by with sirens screaming. If they are 17 or 18 y/o males, they were just hired and are still figuring out the cash register and/or they have a load of friends hanging around talking sports and they find customers to be irritating interruptions.
Friendly and outgoing in retail up here is rare. Fortunately, so is scary and creepy.

ok more background...
you've been up since 3:45 am, on 4 hours of sleep with a few mini-naps thrown in, and already worked a 8 hour day..
