If the Emperor had a wife...

I am certain it would be the new supreme court nominee.

I normally am one to defend the "Right" when they're unduly bashed, but this chick has no business being a judge. ESPECIALLY for the Supreme Court. I typically think my SCJ's should have some prior experience on the bench.

Please, good sir, may we use this as her official nickname henceforth?

But it's not like they just picked her off the street though. She is the first woman to be president of the Texas Bar Association. She does have some legal experience.

But it might not be so bad to have a relative judicial noob on the highest court in the land. Supreme Justices are supposed to interpret the law right? She has experience with the law, surely you can give her that. Maybe she is the kind of upstart that will actually, oh I don't know, render a decision without the kind of self contradictory approach that became associated with the most recent bench.

Plus if any of them other bitches get out a line, she can just use force lightning to keep em in check. That chick is scary with a capital "S."

Have at it. If JustiSidious makes it on board watch out for new hooded robes being introduced. And yes, all politics aside, I'd like to see an experienced judge become a Justice.

Dude, you should be all huggy kissy with this chick. The Dems are LOVING her as a nomination, because she's contributed funds to Dem fundraisers, and isn't a total neo-con hard core conservative.

Learn your talking points, lefty!

Yah know I've been lissening to the radio talk about ther all day and until now I never saw a pic of her.

/Shiver as long as she doesn't walk into the cort room with two red robed guys flacking her carrying sticks I think we're safe.

Oh one other fact for the leftist on the boards. She made contributions to the Gore campain in 92 before Clinton won the nomination. Dont know if she contributed when he went up against Bush though.

How is ONE appointment making them all shitty? You're throwing out the baby with the bathwater there. In fact, up untill Katrina, that "shitty" FEMA appointment had overseen 150 Presidentially declared disasters. Not to take sides here, but I'd hardly call 150-1 a shitty record.

One thing I find unsettling is how after major disasters, there's always a whole lot of finger pointing and the news media flat out pisses me off. It's human nature, but I really dislike the need to blame public officials (national, municipal, defense or leadership, whatever) to the point of discrediting them. Sometimes, bad things just happen despite how well people do their jobs. Like category five hurricanes, terrorism, and other generally crappy, unhappy things...and it seems like after all big bad stuff lately, there's always a couple people that the media's trying to tear down as a scapegoat.

That's not to say I think people are always blameless; sometimes people are at fault. It's just that I get tired of the questions always being pressed towards, "Don't you feel that so-and-so could have done more?" when a lot of answers are, "Well, people should have done more to help themselves." But the media are always fishing for a story.

okay... really, I have certain things about me that are not "right wing" ideas, and certainly not D or R... The claim that D is left and R is right is pretty off the mark. D's and R's tend to be in the middle, especially around election time. Those of us that couldn't care less what constituants think, will stick to our core.
As for me, I like the idea of looser, smaller government. Federal gov sucks, self governing is the "bomb digity," as it were. Government growth and micro-management are the reasons we have super high taxes. And that's something everyone hates. Yet, for some reason people are willing to blindly aid in the development of a larger government monster.

In case no one has realized it, we aren't the biggest, richest kid on the block any more... or if we are, it won't be long till that changes. Our economy isnt crap because of a president, a war, or an oil crisis... It's crap because we have a system that has outgrown its resources.

example: Social Security

The number of subsidized citizens is overwhelming the amount of available resource. It's not just old retired people, I see all kinds of people drawing SSI.
Bush's solution was to give people some slack in order to invest and prepare for retirement, or hardship.
What happened: "Oh CRAP!!! $300 to spend on some pancakes, McDonald's, and a new TV from the Wal-Marts!"

My solution: give a 5 year grandfathering for upcoming retirees, after that you are cut off... If you are poor after that you can move into our organized, patrolled ghetto until you are back on your feet. They will have cafeterias serving the basic nessecities, and foodstamps will be eliminated. If you want to apply for some kind of welfare or foodstamps, you will be audited, and they will check to see if you are driving a new mustang, riding an ATV, and buying wrastlin' Pay per view for $50 a pop. If you want assistance, you are going to learn how to use it...
