Mostly just wanted to post and say hi...
I'm interested in the RP section but I don't really have an affiliation, associates or family.

Hi there, and welcome to the boards! We have a lot of RP in game and on these boards. Our community is made up of many guilds and cities, so you can find lots of different events happening every week and certainly something to suit you. You're very welcome to ask questions and join in--all of our RPers are friendly and helpful (though sometimes their characters may be bad guys ).

In game our events happen a lot. There are cantina parties fairly often, which are sometimes more casual (less RP), we have a casino every other week (this Sunday we will have Scum and Villany night, though, in Mos Eisley's Lucky Despot), and there are also other events that happen just every once in awhile.

The In Character (IC) boards here at SWGTales are used more as help for our in game RP. They're a place to post background stories, extra information about plots going on in game, in character diaries, and other stories you might have written about characters in the Star Wars universe. Just look through some of them and see what other people have written! Look in the featured stories forum and see what is currently being featured as very good, current, or interesting.

Another thing to take note of is our Role Player Contact List. This is a list of people who are willing to be contacted to RP in game, and this is also a mailing list to be notified about in game events from time to time.

The best way to get involved in role play is to just get out there and ask! Attend some events (watch in the SWG Public Forum for notifications about events) and introduce yourself.

Try checking out the SWG Guides and FAQ forum. The guides and FAQ forum has a TON of information about the Star Wars universe, the game, and also about role playing. Recently we have added helpful role playing tips for both beginners and long-time veterans, and there is also a character creation guide if you need help with that.
