Tracking People Via Findfriend during the Immersion wars
Somthing me and Isleh-lin have been doing, and toying with and we both really like. I have been using Findfriend to track Isleh's movements becasue im a BH and was after her, since I was the only one to obtain her "Bio sig" i used a stop watch when hunting her and every 10 mins I was allowed to use it on her, now we agreed on it and I think It worked great, espically since we were adult about it and I didnt spam /findfriend isleh-lin, it allowed her to gain ground when on foot and allowed me to try and Cut her off onthe pass using two findfriends and guessing her course. just thought I would put it out there.
Too bad Vader could not use Luke's bio sig to nab him. Maybe he should have changed his template. I guess he went full-template Jedi and could not afford the skill points to take BH.
But seriously, it's cool that you guys agreed upon the tracking method and stuck to the rules. Simple, and fair.

If I recall correctly I used this as a bargaining tool between Kirt nad Coiyonite in the replicant war. Coiyonite handed over his "signature" in exchange for being let go at a bad time.
Its an interesting concept, but its another one on the honor system. Findfriend is more abused than it is helpful in my overall experience.

Vader didn't need any BH in his template. How else from millions of miles away could he have known Luke was at that Hoth base, and that he had landed on Endor.Ekade wrote:Too bad Vader could not use Luke's bio sig to nab him. The mark can control it. Simply, mark makes a recursive macroJabe Adaks wrote:If I recall correctly I used this as a bargaining tool between Kirt nad Coiyonite in the replicant war. Coiyonite handed over his "signature" in exchange for being let go at a bad time.

- addfriend bountyhunter
- (perhaps even tell BH "seeker droid reporting in")
- pause 1 minute
- removefriend bounty hunter
- pause 9 minutes
- callmacro
and BH can spam findfriend as often as he likes, he will only get windows of opportunity, when the probe droid will have a lock on his target. 1:9 minutes ratio seems ok off the top of my head. It could also be something more frequent, like 20:180 seconds etc. Just an idea.

That's pretty slick!! I like it. The hunter could even set up a similar macro so they get their "ping" automatically.Oporim wrote:The mark can control it. Another idea that was kicked around once was to use transport logs. The hunter would "scan the logs", the mark would reply with, "Boarded transport in Theed, headed for Rori Rebel outpost". But I like your macro thing better.

yeah that macro is very slick, I like the idea a lot. This also adds a bit of suspense since you're not constantly sending /tells to each other it gives the hunter a great chance to actually surprise his target.

I like that idea as well. Really cool. It also makes the challenge to the bounty hunter very interesting. Without the tell, it keeps them on their toes looking for the 'hit' and syncing with the bio signature.Oporim wrote:The mark can control it. The mark may be allowed to change the 9 minute pause once every hour or so. This change can also determine the base value of the bounty.
1 min. findfriend window every
9-10 min. 50k cr
9-12 min. 100k cr
9-14 min. 150k cr
9-16 min. 200k cr

Thinking about it more....
The Cons
Oporim's method lowers the immersion for the mark. With the findfriend on a timer and in control of the BH, the mark knows they are being tracked, just not exactly when. There is also the possibility that the macro being dumped for some reason and forgotten to be started again.
Findfriend on a timer is simple.
The Pros
It adds to the level of complexity of the playing field. Chess instead of checkers. The mark can throw the BH off by changing the interval of when the BH can use findfriend.
We could add a few things that allows for the BH to get a benefit from their investment in skill tapes and skill points.
For the BH:
The BH Takes a normal NPC mission when tracking a player mark. They may run the following seeker macro one time every time they can send one out.
/findfriend mark;
/pause 15;
/findfriend mark;
/pause 15;
/findfriend mark;
/pause 15;
/findfriend mark;
/pause 15;
/findfriend mark;
Once the BH gets a hit, then they can run a tracking macro until it fails. Then it's back to sending out seekers.
/findfriend mark;
/pause 15;
/findfriend mark;
/pause 45;
/pause 540;
/macro tracking;
For the Mark:
The mark may be allowed to change the addfriend/removefriend pause once every hour and within a specified range. The first hour must always be a 9 minute pause though.
/addfriend bountyhunter1;
/addfriend bountyhunter2;
/pause 60;
/removefriend bountyhunter1;
/removefriend bountyhunter2;
/pause 540;
/macro mark;
The only thing that either mark or BH can change in either macro is "/pause 540;" and that will be a pre-agreed upon range. e.g. 540-720.

Good ideas people =) This is why we do things like the immersion test, so people can introduce these great ideas to make it fun for everyone.

I agree with novall, I dont think we would have come up with such great Ideas, if we didnt test this out. And I have to give Batak Prop's...He rejoined the Immerson wars YAY FOR BATAK! Told ya it wouldnt be so bad
Good to see you're at least giving it a shot.KirtViza wrote:I agree with novall, I dont think we would have come up with such great Ideas, if we didnt test this out. And I have to give Batak Prop's...He rejoined the Immerson wars YAY FOR BATAK! Told ya it wouldnt be so bad
I understand your perspective completely. As crazy as it might sound now, pre-CU, I was completely a non-PvPer. The few times I tried it, it was over far too fast and I got nothing rewarding out of it, so I pretty much reserved myself to PvE. This is everyone's right to choose as a playstyle, it's your game, your $15, your fun. I think the only thing we were trying to tell you was that you can continue with a completely non-PvP playstyle in the middle of these wars thanks to the maturity and understanding of the community.
The accountability of being instantly attackable by everyone adds a certain responsibility to the way you act (personally, you didn't need it, but it's just nice to have overall). Since there were never any issues before, you are likely not to get into any entanglements now that everyone is red.

This would also be great for the Bounty Hunter System as well. Now when a registered BH takes a mark they can just use this method of tracking. Especially with the revamp for the system coming up anyway.
