People of Gorath, I am currently undertaking a weekly newspaper for our server, which will be written up, and used in game via the email program in SWG.
The Gorath Times will hopefully begin circulating its first issue by the end of the week. This weekly paper is intended to bring the Gorath community closer together and keep people informed of the happenings in their galaxy. Look for the Times to include:
-- Top Stories on Gorath
-- Upcoming RP/PvP Events
-- Results and Summary of Last Week's Events
-- Staff (and Guest) Columns
-- Joke of the Week
-- Weather
-- Ads for Businesses on Gorath
-- Goraths Most Wanted
-- Much More
You too can be a part in the Gorath Times. We are looking for:
-- Freelance and Full-time Reporters
-- Interviewers
-- Guest and Full-time Columnists
-- Businesses for Advertising
Being a reporter is easy: just attend events and get out in Gorath and write a summary article about the happenings. If your article/column shows up in the weekly paper, you'll get paid. The more subscribers to the Times that we get, the more reporters and columnists will be paid.
Looking for a new way to advertise your business? As circulation of the Times increases, your name will reach all corners of Gorath.
Basically, we here at the Gorath Times want people to be up to date on the galaxy's happenings. What better to do at the Starport/Shuttleport than read the paper and be up to date.
Sign up your in game name if you wish to receive our free, first ever, Gorath Times weekly newspaper. Be sure to tell friends and help get the Gorath Times up and running. If you wish to fill any of our vacancies, send Ringo, Pawlo, or Yevad and in-game email and we'll be sure to get back to you as soon as possible.
Thanks for your time.

Holy "Psychic Hotline"!
I swear that I was thinking about how a reporter would have covered the destruction of the Death Star today at work {most boring meeting ever had my mind wandering all over the place :-( }.
Remember
RoboCop and
Starship Troopers? The news coverage and commercials were all tongue-in-cheek and just wry humor.
"I'll buy THAT for a dollar!" (RoboCop) and "Do you want to know more?" (Starship Troopers).
I wouldn't mind seeing Paul Verhoeven direct a Star Wars movie, but with his knack for gory violence, Lucas'd never let him touch it.
And, by the way, sign Keer Tregga up for a subscription. But tell the NewsDroid not to throw the data disk in the sprinklers, please.

Sounds like a great idea.
Thought about including comics (my favorite part of any newspaper)? Obviously can't do that in email, but it could include a URL to a page with all submissions for the week.
And sign me up for a subscription!

Excellent, I'd like to see this fly both in-game and even more in-depth outside the game. If you wanted to write one up weekly I'd be glad to convert it to HTML and feature it on this site. Thats up to you though.
Welcome to the boards with a BANG!

FANTASTIC IDEA!!!
I like this because it will help enhance, or in some cases establish, the sense of community.
Communication is always a great way to being people together. I think you will get a HUGE response once you post the first edition. I envision people scrambling to be a part of this once they see it.
You know everyone will want to me in the paper at some point. This can be huge.
Tourney results, wedding announcements, GCW updates... the list goes on...
OMG, I am drooling. I think you are going to need staff for this.

Of course, all material must be submitted to the Imperial Press department to ensure that it meets all standards and no classified information is revealed.

Thanks again for all the support, the project it going well. I'll get the finished product done hopefully by Sunday but I'm not going to rush things if they aren't working out. I'm still in need of reporters and columnists so if you're interested, send me an in game email. Any other suggestions for the paper would be really helpful since a project like this hasn't been done before (to my knowledge).
Everything will be done in character and in game to provide a true RP sense to the paper.
Also, if you have any interesting or noteworthy story pieces to write about, let me know, you people in the field are the best source of info.

One of your sections should be to interview notable personalities. I think that would be hilarious. I can see some funny things coming out of an interview with say... Tramel. I am sure he'd love to go on and on about the virtues of the Empire.

Yes, I'm going to send something to you guys before your first issue goes to print. Should I send it to you here or ingame?
And yes, it will be subject to Imperial standards and practices.
