Silly question about Patch downloads...

I remember when I was on dial up before my computer crashed a couple of times where I had to reload windows. To save time when I'd reinstall SWG I'd just go over to my buddy's house (who was on dial up too) and snag copied publish files on cd and bring those home to make my download times next to painless.

So, my question is, is it feasible to email someone the patches to speed up download time? I know some email services put limits on the size of files you can attach... but, I was more than a little curious being on dial up again.

Well you are probably going to overload your ISP's allowable mailbox limit rather quickly. I think they actually care when you are on dialup. And I don't know why an email would be faster than a regular DL. My experience is that mail rarely breaks, but its also rarely the fastest form of delivery.

Go to the SOE tech support forum. There are stickies there to do a direct HTTP download if you think that its going to be faster than the launchpad. I don't think it will be though.

Silly question #2:

Why is it when my dial up disconnects I get fluxuations in my estimated download time?

It cut out yesterday and I got reset to 24 hours. It did it again this morning at the same spot... mid-file patch... only when I redialed (same speed) it's showing at 12 hours now.

Is this something to do with number of people downloading the patch? I have to admit I've always wondered.... at least till I had Cable for a few months there... then I didn't care... :???:
