So is the Imperial Navy just part of the military or is there a further break down of the military I just missed. Also is there anything on different ranks in the military? I would be interested in ranks in the Navy in particular. Sorry if this has been posted else where already, I am bad for missing the obvious

As for Millitary breakdown the book didn't have one though I'd imagine it is some what simular to rl millitary organization with the exception that everything is linked to the Imperial Navy (the Imp fleet). There are several novels out there that give you glimpes at the fact that all the other branches of the millitary has to work under the Imperial Navy.
