Focus Thread: Will we need to Revamp Guidelines for NGE?

As much as the NGE may affect our guidelines... it most certainly will affect combat. Which in turn may require us to take another look at our RPvP . (if we're lucky, it won't.)

Again, as more information comes available and those of you on Test Center start trying this out just shoot in a few of the concepts that may directly have some impact on what we were working on here.

The floor is open.

I don't think we can do much until we're playing this upgrade. And even then we will be noobs so it will take a while to figure out what makes RP work.

I'm still catching up on threads, but I don't think anyone has actually brought up the nightmare we'd been dreading for a long time. People have said, on many occasions, "yeah, what's next? Jedi as a starting profession? Maybe we can all just start as Luke."

At the time, it was meant as a joke siting SOE's serious lack of interest in canon. Now, it's fact.

We're going to see a lot more player jedi than before (argue if you want, but our own community is up to 30%, and we're the reasonable players, not the "I wanna be like Vader!" types), and I think we're going to have more issues with "RPing your template."

Either our issue will be with players swinging sabers while claiming to be TKs, or an astounding number of RPed Jedi. I don't know what to think about it, yet (this may be the reason few, if any, have brought it up).

Just sharing a concern.

Maybe they will move the intended time frame. Doubtful.

This new upgrade discriminates on most known existing player groups in the game. We'll see what happens including and mos t interestingly - what this community will look like in a few months.

The speed with which they're putting it out extremely precludes a change in setting. The amount of work that'd be needed to move us to a proper time in SW history/future would be more work than the NGE and CU combined.

They'd never take out the iconic NPC's; they're what draw players nearly as much as the abililty to exist as characters in SW.

keep in mind you may get more "noobs" being jedi..but powergamers will start to leave it..as it will no longer be overpowered

Also: They said awhile back that LA was treating the game like an alternate timeline, ever since that statement i've been more "OK" with the jedi numbers...all they gotta do is explain it, no matter how lame.

Like cloning

As the devs have already stated that unarmed will stay, and that it will be comparable to all other forms of damage, any person that at this time is going jedi so that they can RP their Teras Kasi is not a reasonable person, but a person that wants to play a Jedi.
