Well I droped this a few months ago bacause I was sick of now things where being handled at Marvel and started to collect the ramp up to Infinite Crissis at DC but a friend told me a few things that happened in the last issue and I had to pick it up.
One of my previous problems with Marvel was the ecessive use of mutants. It got to the point that there where mutant night clubs and mutant fasion lines. Looking at any none X related books you'd never know this. I used the term previous because after the House of M story arch this problem no longer exsists.
Spoiler Alert
Marvel a year ago finally desided on what the Scarlet Witch's mutant power was. For those that dont know SW is Magneto's dauhter. They first just called it hexing, the ability to alter probability allowing her to use "magic" then they said she used chaos magic. Durring Avengers Disasembled they finally desided to say that her mutant powers allowed her to controll raw magic witch has been slowly truning her insane. She ended up killing a few Avengers like Thor, Vision, and Hawkeye. At the end of it all Magneto and Xaivier took her under their wing to try to help her but they lost controll and she remade the world (begining of House of M). She wanted a normal life with her family so she gave every one what they wanted leaving Magneto ruller of the world. At the end she realized this wasn't working and figured that it was because of mutants so she errased the gene.
Thats right she errased the mutant gene. It did effect every one but nearly every mutant no longer has the gene and there for has no powers. Characters that were effected that any one would care about was Iceman, Quicksilver, Professor X, and Magneto. Also for some reason Wolverine's mental block on his past was lifted and now he remebers his entire life. This is some pretty cool shit. Some think that this means that there will be no more mutants so no more cop outs when creating new characters. I hope this is true. I also hope that they wont change this back. It would be a little hard to have SW reverse it herself because she included herself in the list of mutants who lost her powers.
House of M (Marvel Comics Answer to Infinite Crissis)
Interesting to say the least since Marvel is founded on Mutant Powers.
Take that away... and isn't everyone just an ordinary Joe Shmoe?
Sounds like another What If... story.
Hmmmm, somethings not right here, we need to fix this... sounds like the set up.
Spider-Man without his powers... pfft, Peter Parker will become boring.
Fantastic Four without their powers... well, their rich, guess they go back to science.
X-men...
Well, point is... I can't help but think this would be an overall bad move. More of a way to let some backstory resurface before things get set back to the norm.
Just my take.

Well not every one's powers is mutant. There was a story in Daredevil writen by Kevin Smith where some guys tells DD all super powers are mutant but since then Marvel has never acknowledged. Spidy got his powers from a radioactive spider, Hulk went gray because of a gama bomb, and Wolvie got claws because he was born. Also not all mutants where affected but many were. There's a mini serries comin up called X-Men: The 192nd and some people think that thats how many real mutants were left.Sai'nu wrote:Interesting to say the least since Marvel is founded on Mutant Powers.
