Novall's Letter to the SWGTales.com readers/posters.

Jabe really wasn't fired. He did however take a few days off from the forums to rest and recoup himself.
Alot of things have been happening here on the boards as well as in the game that have put stress on everyone. I think we all need to take a step back and look around us at the people who are here.
I've always tried to maintain my nutrality on these forums even in respects to my guild. It's tough to be a mod and be the leader of one of the biggest RP guilds on this site. My loyalty always lies with my guild. Thats something that won't change. However, when I am a mod here on SWGTales then I must look at the larger picture then just as my guild. I'm never always right, I'm never always wrong, but I always take accountability for my actions and my guilds.
I've never been in a very active position on these forums, but I've been here since they were just about brand new and we had less then 50 members. Many of you I've seen come from being a noob into being extremely good Rpers as well as players and community members, and we as mods/admins here can only hope that in some way SWGTales has helped to facilitate your character's growth and the community's growth.
SWGTales isn't the community, but the community has chosen SWGTales to be its out of game podium and we have done our human best (because in the end we are all human) to help facilitate growth within the community by means of the SWGtales.com website, forums, and event calenders with public events.
SWGTales.com is privately owned (and I have ZERO ownership) and is goverened ultimately by the owners of the site. Mods/Admins have spent quite a bit of time trying to hash out fair rules that we have rather losely enforced over the last year and a half +. Not every mod/admin agrees with the actions of another, we do follow the letter of the law here.
From now on, I don't want to see anymore public flaming from anyone. If you have anything you need to say to me that isn't constructive, humor, or chit chat then PM me. If you have something you need to say to my guild then you are free to add yourself to the Mandalorian Mercs usergroup and flame us here on our guild forum.
Just as I said in my "New Sheriff in Town" post, my resolve has never been stronger (and yes its a line from RoTS) but that has never been mroe true. I will be locking/quarentiening flame posts on sight as long as I am an admin on the public forum. I will show no favoritism. I will show no mercy. I will be fair and nuteral.
Thanks for taking the time to read this.

Based on reaction to Kirt's opinions as well as personal experiences of my own I can see his point on some issues. Unfortunately PMing the mods only works depending on the mod you PM and criticism (constructive or not) of the staff will only bring you flame posts from said staff, a locked post after getting the last word, or a ban. I'm not here to cry about it - the past is the past, but it has relevance in that it shows past behavior is the greatest predictor of future behavior. Get used to it or move along....it's not going to change.
I did not know Kirt in game, but the last several posts I read from him were just pointless flames against Yala that did nothing but get topics locked that could have been useful. Along that line, could y'all just delete posts instead of locking them? I hate to see a constructive post prematurely ended because of one or two people that don't know when to take their issues to PMs.
I was going to put this in Kirts poll but it was locked by the time I was done writing it lol.
And that's all I have to say about that....now I'm gunna go runnin for no particular reason.

Shensen, moderator policies on our modding process and why things are sometimes left up is found in the rules, easily found in the Rules forum.
If you feel you can't get a satisfactory answer from one mod/admin, PM another until you do. We have plenty of people on the Team who are willing to help you out. However, chances are if you PM all of us you'll just be getting the same answer said in different ways--the team decides together what to do.

Posting on actual threads only leads to stupid pictures with some attempt at humour by Skorixor or Krusshyk, and that never solves anything

So you don't like their humor--I can't help you there. If you have a personal problem with their jokes, I'd suggest you PM them privately. The team's still making it clear and has made it clear that we are available for any concerns with the boards/rules if you only bother to talk to us maturely and calmly. PMs are a great way to do so.

The problem is we break our own rules. I am guilty of it too. Regardless, I am going to back Toront on his point.
We can't shrug it off anymore. There are some legitimate gripes about how this place is run and this is one of them.

Toront, your one of the most level headed people who post here on the public forums. Had it been up to me I would have invited you be a mod here. I honestly believe that in order for this place to be fair we should pick the most level headed person from every guild in good and long standing here on SWGTales to be a mod. In my eyes that shows a fairness to all the community and it also makes guild members feel like their guild does have some impact on the SWGTales community.

Putting Toront on the team has been discussed in the past. It didn't happen yet cause I wanted to give him something different to do that Hashum doesn't already do. But also related to jedi or somethign that may have interested him.

Regardless of who runs this place, whether it's one of every guild, one of every server, whoever--there will be gripes about how this place is run. There will always be rules broken from within the ranks, etc. We're all human, we all get angry, we all play jokes and have a sense of humor of some sort, none of us can stay cool and unbiased all the time.
I think that in all the crap that's happen on the forums, all the drama, there's been some legitimate complaints, but for the most part people are kinda just putting blame in places where there doesn't necessarily need to be any. We are all here for the same thing. We're all players of the same game (bling bling).

Yeah I can see why some are left up and just locked, but from what I've seen 99% of the time they are locked. Not saying it's necessarily a bad thing - just that is sucks for the people that wanted to contribute something to the topic for a change.

It isn't about the humour. Its the condescending nature of it. I'm not going to play Alonzo and blow up at it, but don't think that just because I'm a much calmer person I'm not going to call them on it. As for the PM crap, don't give me that. I'll PM other admins, but in all honesty, I don't want to talk to these guys. My only experience with either of them has been this crap.
Besides, I get to do all my arguing in PMs while they can go on and belittle whatever they feel like on the public boards? That doesn't work for me. Its not like this point hasn't been brought up 3-4 times before under calmer situations, or even 2-3 times by Viceroy Ordantis (R.I.P) under less calm situations.

I feel very much out of my element here but, as usual, have a desire to say something at least.
We are all human. We all wind up with beefs with each other in some form or fashion throughout Life. Fights with siblings, friends, and family. We are prone to making mistakes because we're only human.
That said, I feel any fight and/or beef we wind up having here is an opportunity to try and make things better. It's not a perfect world though. And we're not perfect people.
I for one am thankful your all willing to work this hard to provide a resource that gives me more opportunities to add something to my, and other's, game experience.
Humor? I'll admit I'll post in a humor thread simply because I believe if we can't have the ability to laugh at something... what's the point of everything? I'm not justifying or slamming anything though. We do need it sometimes; In other places, we could live without it.
I do think it would be nice to see representation from all the guilds here and even someone to speak for our unguilded. In essense I think wither or not we're a Moderator, Developer, Admin, what have you... We all shoulder the responsibility of making this community better.
Does that mean contributing 5000 posts? No, I'll view the new guy with only 5 posts just as seriously. I think quality over quantity is a common goal for us. At least, to some degree. The community thrives with each added person we see here. And it degrades with even one loss in my honest opinion. No matter how you view the individual because to someone else... they were a friend.
In the end, I don't care who is doing the moderating so long as the overall goal is being worked toward here. Trying to make the game fun for all of us. A goal I hope everyone of us can say they want to be a part of.
For all of my own faults I hope this doesn't come across as just another one of my silly posts.
