playable droids?

with the droid being the icon for medic, what is the possibility that droids may become a playable race?

will DE still be a part of trader? if so, maybe they could just sell/engineer parts for droid players, maybe as a part of AS/tailor.

has there been any mention of this?

I was hoping from the very birth of SWG that droids were going to be playable, was dissapointed when species were announced. Why have they given us such crappy races in the past, when droids are an awesome multi-faceted race!

While C-3PO and R2-D2 are very iconic characters; I think they looked at it from the perspective that they were more objects rather than independent personalities. Much the same reason they didn't put in strict 'duties' for if your a Stormtrooper.

Don't get me wrong... it's not like Merchants go out and solo everything with the entertainers... but I'd reckon they just figured that not very many would play a droid.

In most of the table-top RPGs it's part of the core rules.

Really no telling on this one Whar. But I doubt it happens anytime soon. On the 2-1B note, I think they used that because it was the most visible medic in Episodes 4-6.

your probably right about why they chose it.

I had assumed that myself, but I was wondering if someone who frequents the SOE boards (because I dont) had seen something on this.

Personally, I wish droids could take better roles IG. Storywise, Cryil should have a modifed protical droid as a co-pilot

I have to agree, because in the SW universe droids ARE characters, they have stories, and usually have interesting personalities of their own.

Easier to adapt RP for a droid too. Need to forget something and start anew in the RP realm it's as easy as a memory whipe.

I think everyone wanted more 'functional' droids as well. But the best we get are the 'overload' chips for ships, extra storage, or some combat capability. It may be as good as their going to let it get in the real of droids.
