Jedi? Still the alpha profession... noobs

Its only alpha if you can make it alpha. Its for the alpha player, ya know the guys who can pwn at quake, etc. They made Jedi undesirable to most button mashers by making you have to actually be good at PvP to run a Jedi toon.

I say good move. No armor? Boohoo. If I end up sucking at the new system you won't see me crying a river. People on TC are realizing Jedi is not the combat profession of choice because you actually have to be good at PvP now. Funny as hell. Everytime I hear "Jedi sucks now", its more like saying "I'm a noob." And so the filter for Jedi comes from natural selection, which is the best filter of all.

Anyway for all you new respec Jedi, welcome to a whole new experience. You're the bane of every other profession in galaxies. People are going to hate you and you're gonna get teased and called a noob. People are going to whine and blame you for everything they don't like about the game. Of all the parts of the game that are broke, you're going to quickly learn that you're in the only profession that has no right to complain about anything.

My advice to new Jedi as well as current Jedi? Tell your critics to stfu. People say there is more Jedi than ever, that mostly because all the other professions quit and all you see is Jedi now. Jedi is the big reason this game is still running, we're a big part of the subscribers that kept the the money flowing when everyone else was quitting - as well as the roleplayers might I add. So get used to some hardcore PvP, get good at it and learn to pwn face. I am tired of all the whiners who say Jedi don't belong or blame Jedi for whatever. Anyone who makes it as a Jedi in NGE deserves to be one, respec or not.

I will miss being a Commando/Smuggler/Carbineer. I never really got to try it out in PvP. But I look at this an I have to smile. With Jedi being the only melee profession and with it taking more skill to play, I see the GCW with lots of blasters and only the rare Jedi. If any.

Maybe the "Star Wars" may be back in SWG with this change? I hope because it comes down to the fact that I don't play SWG to be a Commando/Smuggler/Carbineer, I play for the setting. I don't define my toon by my professions, I define Isleh by how she fits within the setting. The professions and how they work are the vehicle but not the goal.

Well said!

I am feeling a little more optimistic about it now. It'll take some getting used to for sure.

I personally feel when it comes to Carbineers, Pistoleers and Riflemen, you are really not gonna miss your profession a whole lot. You will still be able to use your same weapons, well after a 10 level grind in some cases. I will still be able to be a Bounty Hunter that can pack a Carb, and switch over to a pistol if I want.

As for Melee, I haven't test much other than BH, but dont Commando and Smuggler have some melee specials as well? I know its not a true melee profession but then I never understood bringing a vibro blade to a gun fight anyways :)

Actually, from what I've tried. Spy seems like a strong melee profession.

Ooohh.. spy was one of the profs on my list.

This is good news as far as I am concerned. :D

I am eager to find out what sorts of things a Spy can do.

I tried out spy quite a bit on TC. It does have a lot of melee to it and enough ranged to keep you out of close combat if you need it. They also have a version of force cloak that lets them blend into shadows that's pretty cool.

From my spy on TC. I had the about following at 4-5th level minus stuff

85 - Strength: Melee attack stat increases damage
85 - Precision: Ranged attack stat increases damage
85 - Agility: General defense in combat reduces damage
0 - Stamina: Increases action
0 - Constitution: Increases health
85 - Luck: Will be explained more in-depth at a later time.

They also wear battle armor.

This is what I have been trying to say for awhile. The majority of the PvPers out there will not be used to Jedi. It will actually require that the player pay a ton of attention to what he is doing. Currently, Jedi don't have to do that as much as we normies to be as good as us (trying not to slight T, because he pays a ton of attention, and as such is probably the best on the server).

As for the melee, all specials can be used with any form of weapon, including melee (at least from my stay on TC, havn't been on for a couple of their changes). For examply, I was using demolition shot with my fist.

OMFG! Nyvveck shot a blaster out of his fist at 65m for a total of 1337 damage!

Im guessing thats what it said on TC eh Nyvveck?

Jabe...I think i love you ;)

Youve finally put how i feel about NGE jedi into words, now all i need to do is put it into a macro and spam the hell out of everyone who is going to whine about my post NGE jedi-ness

I was pvp'ing a bit with Saf tonight and then a bit with Snado... Snado whooped my ass a couple time but with some practice i figured out how to deal with some bugs (specials not firing while enemy is targeted?) and some lag issues and we had some pretty evened up fights.

As I though,t no real reason for TC players to whine, IMHO. Jedi is stil teh bomb.
