Yep, they're porting it to console(what a surprise)

By the sheer number of developer post in the following link, I have to believe that even SOE is getting frustrated. SOE has also been taking down links saying that the game is going to be ported. Check the number of dev responses to the same thread here:

So why is your thread titled the way it is, if the official reports are saying NOOOO QUIT IT!!!

Well, I didn't say it was "official".

I have never seen such a large amount of responses by a Dev in one thread(considering they removed the offending link). We've seen time and time again that SOE is not true to their word(Smuggler revamp anyone?). The tone of the post is satirical. If they're spending that much time squashing "rumors" there must be some truth to it =)

Smuggler...did get a revamp. NGE. Ranger got the published revamp too--it became spy.

They left out the details of how the revamps would come to be, but they're here. And as much as people scream about SOE/devs not listening to the player base, they do make changes and cater to what the people ask for and scream about. The big things that get bitched over are changed, removed, etc.

If anything, maybe they're trying to answer the big question of 'why isn't SWG fun anymore.' Even though they are a business trying to make a profit, I just can't believe in the core of me that they're out to screw everyone over and piss everyone off. Nobody wins. What's the point of a making a game that way?

As a side not to this dicussion I've never seen the Dev's act this way if they weren't telling the truth.

There were several threads predicting this NGE especially in the Jedi forum well before it was announced and no action was taken by the Dev's. We all though the guy was crazy and the guy claimed to have inside information. Apparently he must have as the information he posted turned out to be 100% correct.

So while I can hardly believe it I'm going to take the Dev's word on this one.

I agree. Look at EQ, EQ2 - both were largely successful game which imo they do well with because it is what they know. SWG was the same (a MMO), but a different genre they had no experience with. They made a game a launch that was unique, but over time and with player ingenuity the game changed. Hence the CU. The CU removed a lot of the things that made the game too easy (90% armor, buffs, DOT's, etc.) but they were still plaqued with trying to balance 32 professions in a myriad of combinations, one of which being the alpha class that should never have been an alpha class.

Ultimately I think it was that and all the R&D money being sunk into fixing profession balance amid dropping player subscriptions that caused LA to get as involved as they now are and turn the game into what it is today in hopes that the simplicity of it will get more people playing and the maintenance will be next to nothing compared to what they were dealing with before.

As I said somewhere else, LA has developed some really great games over the past few years and had they developed this one from day 1 I think this is what we would have seen. I see a lot of BF/BF2 in here as well as some EQ2/WoW aspects. This will take some getting used to but what the hell, I've endured this much right? In the end I'm just too much of a Star Wars groupie to do anything else. :P

I respectfully disagree. The NGE is not a smuggler revamp, nor is it a ranger revamp. This is an entirely new game as Smedley has stated in his posts. I do believe that LA/SOE are trying to revive the game. SOE/LA are large corporations that care about profit as any corporation should. The MMO business makes it's money by profit over time. SOE/LA will do anything to keep their customer base even if this means disinformation. By keeping costs "low" and charging a monthly fee they are effectively able to keep people hooked by metering out minor changes to appease their subscription base. This appear to be customer service but in reality is just a tactic to keep the money coming into SOE. At the end of the day, it's how much profit that really matters, not whether or not the players are appeased.

There are some, it's true that are pissed that they have some of their abilities removed. I think some of those that are upset see through the public relations/customer service BS and know what big business is doing.

I personally play the game to experience the fun with my friends. I'm not going to play into the "getting phat loot" routine or be the uber class.

I just wish they'd come clean.

There are other factors to consider too. AFK Doc bots, Chinese loot farmers and the effect both have on the game ecomony.

Bots were the cause of the stagnation of the of the entertainer profession. The attempt to fix it nerfed it. Meaningful buffs were taken away in the CU and post CU, doctors were heading down that same road. Anyone who ran BH missions out of Keren could see it happening.

If I recall corectly, one of the suggestions (made by the players no less) to prevent bots and loot farming was to require user interaction.

Be careful for what you ask for...

As a side note, I wonder what a 15% experence bonus does for Quest experience? With experience not so easy to get now, Entertainers have a very valuable service to offer. One may say, the best service offered in the game now.

What service is that? I would like to know, since "they" are not telling us entertainers squat. Obviously, they are telling someone else or you would not have said that.

From my readings and experience, entertainers cannot buff quest experience, at this time.

Anyone want an ID?
