Operation: Attract replacements.

In relation to my other post... I'd like to start a forum here to state my intentions to attract new players to our roleplaying community. I'd like to coordinate my actions with others in the community who would like to help. Creating simple storylines that immerse us with new players and make them think... "Wow, that's something I'd like to be a part of."
This does not have to be an extensive plan.
It could be quite simple.

It is no shocking surprise that the tales community is losing many of its members... Only if we act to keep the community strong, will it remain so.

Post your ideas here. Anything you can think of. Anything you would like to be involved with. Any sort of adventures that might attract "tales quality" players.

Possibly we could get some fights going around Eisly in RP, possibly to the point where it intrests other players. But thats just me.

I'm not going yet, but I haven't decided if I'm staying either.

I'm game... but what's the plan? Some scripted/non-scripted scenarios in major npc towns?

At this point... when we get our alts... simply helping someone go Imp or Rebel may be just enough to get them interested if we spice it up a little.

Same boat as Novall atm, not leaving but taking a break from game to see if anything new comes about.

You can't replace the people that have left. You can get new people and liven the forums and community again, but the people we are losing can never be replaced.

I think the best ways to attract new players to the RPing community would be the stuff we've been doing all along. Maintaining our forums, having good tools like the RP Contact List (using it!), being friendly, RPing in public, have publically accessible events. We attract new players all the time.

Getting into RP and any new community (guild or otherwise) is a slow process. I would say let's just remember why we're here and continue doing the things we've been doing.

Well...I do know that there's a woman I work with that's checking out these forums as we speak that we might be able to suck into our sad little world of Star Wars.

Right Anna?

Yay!!!

....maybe we need to make a George Lucas member with him wearing that I heart Ewoks shirt on for an avatar. It'll be our stress break member. We just flog a thread with the GL member with this line... "I Love Ewoks!" :ewok

...ok, so don't make me a PR person here.

I think replacement was probably the wrong word for Rebecca to use. But she does have a valid point. We can still grow the community again if some of us are, indeed, on our way out.

We could actually snatch people up in eisley, and say "HEY YOU!"
Tell them you have a mission and need their help. With the help of other RPer's you supply them with a quest-like mission where they have to RP their way in or out of a situation. And maybe give them a little monetary incentive to make it worth their time. They may also find it cool to take a space ride with some vets with cool ships, and RP a travel sequence as a briefing.

but like Zannon said, those who we have lost, cannot be replaced....

Yah I didn't mean to offend anyone by using the word replacement.
Jabe is right, nobody can be replaced...
Part of the reason I am hoping most of you people get a change of spirit and continue to stick with tales and SWG.

Regardless of the terminology used its still a good idea, count me in for this weekend if you want to do something. I have a few roleplayable options to choose from dependng on the scenario.

What about a Protest?

I remember a long time ago when I was playing UO... there was this huge uprising outside of Lord British's castle. It drew me into a roleplayers guild that had planned out the entire thing.

So... in similiar regards.

Why not say... a public rally in Mos Eisley?
Something rebellious... obviously. "Down with the Empire."
Not only could it attract the attention of new players, but faction aligned players new and old.

It'd take some organizing. But I think it may work. What do you think?
