I vaguely remember watching a tv movie (or at least I think I did) based on the book.

Good, Bad, The Suck?

I haven't seen it, but I definitely want to. Never had an interest in the book, but the movie looks hawt.

I'll be there. I've never read the books but I remember as a child the local TV networks played the chronicles as The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. The local newspaper would publish the screenplay on the days that it played so all the kids could read along. Fond memory.

The trailer looks so good and I was so impressed by LotR that I'll definitely be seeing Chronicles of Narnia in the theatre instead of waiting for the DVD.

I'll definately be there to support the vision of C.S. Lewis.

Funny thing is I read somewhere that Lewis never intended for it to become a movie and didn't want it to be....I take that with a grain of salt tho because I'm sure it wouldn't have happened if there was that much opposition.

"In the letter, dated December 18 1959, Lewis made clear he approved of the radio version of the book produced by Lance Sieveking, a pioneering BBC radio and television producer. But in letters written shortly before the death of his wife, Joy, Lewis also said he was "absolutely opposed - adamant isn't in it! - to a TV version" of any of the books. "Anthropomorphic animals, when taken out of narrative into actual visibility, always turn into buffoonery or nightmare. At least, with photography," he wrote.
A cartoon version would be "another matter", he said. But Lewis, who died in 1963, added: "If only Disney did not combine so much vulgarity with his genius." In conclusion, he said that "a human, pantomime Aslan would to me be blasphemy".

However is main reasoning being that he didn't think it would due the story justice. Both he and Tolkien (close friends) were very fussy (perfectionists I'd say). I think were he able to see that the movie was probably an acurate picture of how he actually imagined the story he would feel differently. This of course also depends on how well Disney follows the story and the Christian theme C.S. Lewis used.

yes Disney is making the movie. Or paying for it at least, I suppose it depends on how you want to look at it. I would have hoped Peter Jackson would have done this instead of King Kong.

I'm sure the wife will make me go see it. Admittedly, I'm a fan of children's movies now (Just you wait, Jabe! Your day will come!), but I never read this book and am really "meh" on the idea of it.
