I was wanting to axpand the storage capacity on my main pc but I cannot get an internal drive unless I get a new case and basically rebuild the pc. I was wondering if I got this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6822144382
would I be able to use it like a regular drive, say drive F:. Everything I read only talks about use for backing data up, can it function like a regualr internal drive. Also my current 120 gb hdd is 5400 rpm and I notice most new drives are 7200 rpm, would that be an issue. I would plan to just use the new drive for any media I download or new software/games. Thanks in advance for any advice, peace.

PC question for the learned here
I think the software is for "backup" but if you don't install it and just plug the drive into your computer, you should be good to go.
WinXP will acknowledge it like any other drive but you may have to reformat it.

You can use it like a regaular drive. Just make sure your PC's USB ports are USB 2.0 compliant, otherwise its going to be very very slow.

Thanks Rankyn and thanks Jabe, I doublechecked and I have USB 2.0's. Should that pretty much be plug and play, reboot the computer and let Windows XP takeover? Also the rpm difference in the drive running the op sys vs the external drive won't be a known issue?Jabe Adaks wrote:You can use it like a regaular drive. USB is hot-swappable. Just plug it in while the computer is on and it will just auto-detect it.Zyre Mercutio wrote:Thanks Rankyn and thanks Jabe, I doublechecked and I have USB 2.0's.
