interesting read.
wired magazine reviews the NGE
Sounded like the NY Times article, just a bit worse. Ouch.

another great article bashing swg. I love it. There can't be enough articles in major publications explaining how we got screwed.

Not to mention an emotional investment."You put in a lot of time, your character changes and grows," says Burke, a Galaxies player himself. "So to be told that in two weeks, your labor investment, your year and a half's worth of work, is going to be destroyed, is tough for some people to take."
The thing that REALLY bothers me.. I worry that this experience will prevent me from truly getting into my future characters. I really really enjoyed playing Ekade. She had her own personality which was both like and unlike my own.
Ekade was fun to play because of the amount of effort and emotional investment I put into developing her. To do it half-assed would have been a much less rewarding experience.
Did I expect to be able to play her forever? No. But I did not expect for the end to come as swiftly as it did. I was hoping I could part ways with my beloved character on my own terms.
WoW is a lot fun.. but the RP magic is just not the same. Many, including Orr and Hocke, have begun to play the popular World of Warcraft. Members of the forum report that their new WOW community alone numbers 300 ex-Galaxies players.
*sighs deeply, hangs head, and sulks off*Gamers may feel betrayed if the sequel to their favorite game isn't as good as the original, but they can play the original any time they want.
Not so for those who enjoyed the original Galaxies. It's gone forever.

one of which is Jedi. In the previous version of the game, only a precious few dedicated, lucky players could hope to attain the use of the Force.
Can you tell the person writing this piece never played the game before lol
