Q1. If you could pick one musical group to reunite or soloist to un-retire to their "prime" status who would they/it be?
Q2. If you could resurrect the same categories from the dead to their prime status, who?
A1. The Police. I like Sting's solo stuff but I still love the old stuff with Andy & Stewart. To me it's timeless. If I could get them all on a conference call I bet I could pull it off! I'll pay the charges, just talk it over. "At the bottom of a dark....SCOTTISH LAKE! Many miles awayyyyy...."
A2. Marvin Gaye. Not only could he sing the soul out from a lump of coal, Marvin was a musical innovator. Marvin was the first artist to multi-track his voice. When he felt that no back-up singer could put the feeling into the words like he could (and few could), he recorded the lead on one track and sang back-up vocals for himself on another. While it's standard nowadays, then it was revolutionary and the result was phenomenal. "This one way luuuuv, is juuuust a fan-ta-syyyyy..."
Dream Musical Reunions & Resurrections
A1). Utah Saints or Lunatic Calm. I'm sure they're both still making albums, but I bought Utah Saints latest and it sucked out loud, and I have no idea what Lunatic Calm is doing lately.
A2). Benny Goodman. And his whole freakin' band. I've got a live album that was recorded like 50 sumpin' years ago, and he found it in his attic just before he died and immediately had it transferred to album status (so people could buy it). Big band just doesn't get any better than that.

A1. Rage Against the Machine.
A2. Man, so many to choose from that died from the 60's through the 90's due to drugs/liquor/whatever of bands I's listen too: John Lennon, Jimi Hendrix, Jim Morrison, Janis Joplin, kurt cobain, layne staley, cliff burton all just off the top of my head...
I'd say it would have been an awesome experience to see the Doors live in concert in their heyday...so I guess Jim Morrison
and since we're bringing people back from the dead, I'd like to bring back John Belushi too

Are you sure he was the first? I'm no musical historian or anything but I did sleep in a HolidayInn Express last night...er I did see "Ray." It suggested Ray Charles did it first when 8-track technology came out. Remember that scene?Keer wrote:A2. Marvin Gaye. A1- No bands I really care about have broken up. So I'd rather bring bands back from the dead instead of soloists.
A2- There are ton I'd like to bring back. Freddy Mercury, Cliff Burton from Metallica, have to go with E-bo too I loved the man in black. I'm also partial to Ritchie Valens.

The first musician to use multitracking was guitarist Les Paul. In 1947, Capitol Records released a record featuring Paul playing eight different parts on electric guitar. These recordings were made with wax disks; Paul would record a track onto a disk, then record himself playing another part with the first.
Paul commissioned Ampex, an American audio company, to build the first eight-track tape recorder, at his expense. (This is not to be confused with an 8-track cartridge machine, which were introduced in 1965, and played in stereo.) Paul's idea was for a recording head which could simultaneously record a new track and play back previously recorded ones. Ampex released commercial multitrack recorders in 1955, naming the process "Sel-Sync" (Selective Synchronous Recording). The earliest such recorders were analog magnetic tape machines with two or three tracks. Elvis Presley was first recorded on multitrack during 1957, as RCA's engineers were testing their new machines. Buddy Holly's last studio session in 1958 employed three-track, resulting in his only stereo releases not to include overdubs. Producer George Martin in England used two-track as a means to making better mono records, carefully balancing vocals and instruments...........

NKOTB needs to make a comeback in, like, the worst way.
I heart them.
And MC Hammer needs to get back into the studio.
Ok, seriously now...
Queen needs to resurrect Freddie Mercury and make more albums. They are arguably one of the greatest bands of all time. Even if you ignore the fact that Mercury was one of the greatest front men ever, their use of classical harmonies in rock music was unparalleled.
