Hallelujah! Science class can actually teach about science and facts, instead of how a supernatural being created the universe
"Intelligent Design" can't be taught in school
Science can't prove anything... It only proves what God lets us prove. And I got proof you're gonna burn in hell!!!!

I think teaching both is a good idea. It actually allows the kids to have more open minds.

I think the point here is that one should be taught in school, and one should be taught in Sunday school.Aknal Dreidel wrote:I think teaching both is a good idea. It actually allows the kids to have more open minds.
There's this whole "separation of church and state" thing in our constitution.

They would have to teach creation as taught in all world religions in order to be fair.
Kids should be learning some important stuff out of school too.
Personally I do get bothered by people incorrectly stating evolution as proven, or more like scientific law than theory.
look up seperation of church and state in the constitution, and see how it applies to this if you think that is actually relevant.

I didn't read this article (basically because I live here and I am tired of hearing about it) but no one has any proof as to how we got here in my humble opinion. Some may call their theory science, but it is just as much faith as anything else.

I think what is forgotten alot in these "Evolution" arguments is the definition of what exactly the word theory means. The word "theory" means that there is strong evidence to back up the claim but it cannot be proven entirely. Laws, on the other hand are irrefutable, proven. I think "evolution" taught as a theory is acceptable as long the term theory is defined scientifically.
Not a creationist discussion..just stating the facts.

You know the term seperation of church and state isn't actually written in the constitution, right?
You can teach them both as theories, so the ones who believe one don't feel as if they've been lied to or are being told a lie and so the other can simply see both sides of the coin and decide. Personally, I just don't see any evidence for the cross-species evolution. There is certainly some truth in evolution though, animals change and adapt. But I don't think they jump species boundries, certain characteristics will change, but the creature will remain similar to the original.
again, just my thought.

well if scientists can create life through technology (in vitro, test tube babies, clones) are they gods then?
-

When they can create a human from nothing then I will believe they are creating life. They are not creating life with technology. They are mimicking natural methods for creating life by using technology. The basic building blocks still have to come from a living organism at some point in their "creation" process.Skorixor wrote:well if scientists can create life through technology (in vitro, test tube babies, clones) are they gods then?
If you want to argue that they are gods then so are my wife and I because we created life using our own bodies. We didn't even have to use modern science. I would even go as far as to say we did a better job than the scientists and wated less resources in the process.

Evolution is one of the weakest theories offered up if you look at it from a purely scientific perspective. Yet many who swear by Science don't actually apply it.
Evolution is, by far, more a religion than it is science.

I see nothing intelligent in 'Intelligent Design' so I'm happy it isn't being taught in schools. That name is very misleading....makes me think about autoCAD or something.

You are incorrect.Aknal Dreidel wrote:You know the term seperation of church and state isn't actually written in the constitution, right?
Paraphrased from the First Amendment:
From hereTwo clauses in the First Amendment guarantee freedom of religion. The establishment clause prohibits the government from passing legislation to establish an official religion or preferring one religion over another. It enforces the "separation of church and state.
The first amendment is the first amendment to the constitution. So it IS written into law in our highest federal level.
So if you're in ANY public school system funded by local, state, or federal monies, it is baseline illegal to teach ANY theories which are related to religious connotation.[/url]
