Should Scum and Villany Night be mobile?

If we move it from place to place every now and then, it gives people a reason to visit and explore cities they might never have been to, and it will help keep the whole idea fresh. IMHO, that is.

I have found several other venues where S&V would SO RULE. One of which I wanted to see if Pex could temporarily decorate for a future S&V or other gathering event, but thats just my delusions of grandeur...

Well it's a two edged sword really. I like the idea of it moving, I've never been as of yet but the RP potential for moving is great, you could every few weeks be run out of the bar by imperials or something and forced to relocate it. I don't think I'd move it every week though because it would be hard to keep track of and may lose some attendee's

Moving it around from place to place throws off the new folks. Keeping it right there in Mos Eisley (the newb captial of the world now) makes it immediately accessable to new people playing, and makes it easy to find.

You won't get word-of-mouth business if you keep changing the time and place.

I agree that keeping it in Mos Eisely in general is a good idea, but I think moving it around at least sometimes is even better.

One of the original ideas was that we would keep it in place and then once it got traction, we'd move it around to allow people to showcase their cities and such.

Howerver, the lines of communication to roleplayers are never perfect. Some only live in game and they find out about things through word of mouth.

Moving it will confuse people. There is no question about that.

So the question becomes, how do we get to other places? Do those become events that occur only once?

I think it would be good if it moved around a little. I am a rogue, and I would definitely not want to continue frequenting an establishment if it gets a little heat. But we also do need an established place to find new contacts and conduct business.

If a new location is picked, it would be great if we had to go to Mos Eisley.. and then some sort of message would be given.. if a passcode is known.. that the regular meeting place has been changed due to whatever reason. This could be someone's alt.. or perhaps a droid with a new waypoint that can be downloaded... it would flavor to the fact that our business is illegal.. and that we have to be careful..

Location surprise can be overcome immediately with that idea you had for an announcing droid of some kind. Set properly, the droid could be babbling to himself... "Oh my, yes, I heard them mention the night's events were moved to Nocturnus on Lok...well yes, the coordinates are XXXX XXXX...do be careful, they are a rough looking group!" or something to the effect.

Now -- COMPLETE newbs just wandering in/around may actually become intrigued by that and the right type of gamer might say "Interesting" and go check it out. Nocturnus was just a place I wanted to throw out -- new cantina opening there or something... 8-)

I think it should move every now and again, but there should be some laying down of the law to get folks motivated to meet elsewhere. Mos Eisly may be the hive of scum and villany, but there is a local authority there.(Even if they are bought off and none caring.) I've been wanting to lay the imperial smack down at one of the events for a while, but I need to get some Imperial soldiers motivated to assist in the peace keeping. One day I'll actually get a contact list.

i say leave it alone for now, get more people involved then make a decision then, it wont hurt to wait a little longer before making any choices :-D

I think you should stay put for all the reasons above, however what you could do is expand Scum and Villiany Night to other nights and locations after all scum and villiany is not centralized to one local and the name itself does not tie it to one city or even planet. You could make Scum and Villany a theme buy which the activities of the given cantina run by.

Wow, it looks like "Move" is spanking "Stay" pretty good.

So, those who say move.. lets start a list of the places you would like to see S&V visit. Then maybe we can vote on a place for it to hop to in the future.

One thing I would like to add.. anyone who is running an event around S&V will be given special consideration as to where it is held.

I think it would be cool to see it come to the Casino in Nocturnus after it opens.. but then I guess that's what casino night would be for..

I guess noc just needs a bigger cantina..
