Still though... it sounds like it'll still be more beneficial to have a carbine handy for things like... kiting Krayts/Bosses if your melee. But I am glad they finally addressed this change. On the speeds for weapons... if they can acknowledge a combat code... they should be able to give us a dps stat back. And a combat log. Only two things this still leaves me asking for really.

I would like the DPS stat back myself, but the combat log, that would be a mess with the speed of attacks now.... imagine thousands of scrolling numbers just to kill a couple meatlumps

So...I'm confused. Does this mean my melee weapons will do more damage or less damage when this is fixed?
well

Don't they give you a stat for your damage range though? I thought it was in the character sheet where you can check all of your stats. It's not exactly DPS, but it does give you a quantified damage dealing ability based on your stats...and it changes when you use assorted buffs.

I would assume that melee would be a medium to slow weapon speed type, so I would say their damage output will increase.

Got shoot something tonight and watch how fast the numbers appear above your target, I mean any lengty battle and you would be scrolling alot to try and go thru that info, then add in any group members or anything else that showed up on the combat log... whew... lots of info.
Maybe if it was a refined combat log, that only showed your attacks and attacks against you. But I doubt thats do-able..... besides... SOE said it aint coming back

We just have a generic dmg range right now really.
An Example:
Vreese's lightsaber is 308-550dmg.
On the character sheet it's listed as 558-1120 damage.
This doesn't really tell us our speed of attack though. Or damage per second very well. That's why I'd love to have that back.
As is... we can only tell that a Carbine is insanely fast in comparison to a Vibroknuckler.
If I understand the post right though, Nyvveck. It means the DPS will be bumped up accordingly to our CL for the different weapons. So we should be doing more damage now.
The combat log could still be viable I think.

I would qualify that as "relative damage" the change may cause fast weapon damage to drop or it could cause medium or slow weapons damage to increase.

I never really cared much. Never needed to kite Krayts or Bosses so this whole post caught me off guard. I hope the change is for the better though since his post really wasn't all too conclusive.

From the way Blixtev wrote it, it sounds like nothing is happening to carbines or pistols. His wording suggests that rifles, lightsabers and melee weapons are the only weapons NOT working as intended. So carbines and pistols should stay the same interms of damage and rate of fire. Rifles and melee speeds should remain constant, but actual damage done per hit should go up based on your char's level.

Ahhh sweet. I will always welcome more damage

Thank you for clarifying that. My reading comprehension is at an all time low today for some reason.
