Blue Frogs at TC with Heavy Weapons
nades are h4x and instacap and heavy weapons are worthless as far as i can tell they only work well vs. someone else using one. I used a medic a spy and a bh and no one using heavy weapons could beat me :/ i dont know if the medic changes have implemented on tc yet but if they have they didnt do much :/

I've gotta say that heavy weapons kick ass. I only used the starter launcher pistol because my only character on TC was just made and I was too lazy to leave the station. However, from what I can tell, heavy weapons will be great to have. They are not meant to be used to fight one on one...they are meant to be used to damage everyone in an area.
Something to understand with the NGE combat is that not one profession is going to beat every other one (in theory at least). So, a whole group of Commando's shouldn't be the be all end all PvP group. But a good PvP group is going to need commando's to be able to fight well.

Sounds very cool after reading through a lot of the responses. Only really nit picker things I've noticed on feedback so far is a stance that Hvy Weapons put you in that some people don't like? And, like with Jedi Force Run, the getting stuck in combat mode even if your not in combat thing with them.
I do think one thing odd though... we've still got loot drop weapons... I'm willing to bet Grenades like the Old Republic ones off of the Beetle Foreman somtimes. Their qouted as doing Hellacious... almost one throw one kill... damage. The counter to this was... craftable ones won't be quite that impressive.
Other than that... sounds like their working well with AoEs and DoTs per CL. Meaning... gets better the higher CL the weapon is if I understood them right. And... Aye', I wouldn't want to seem them be One on One win weapons if everyone can use them. Working as intended on that one.
Has anyone tried a full group with Hvy Wpns yet though... to see what the AoE/DoTs stacked in group looks like yet?

Some thing to note. Area weapons will keep a stealthed toon in combat mode even if you can't target them directly. That means, by sacrificing your action (for non commandos) you can keep a stealthed player from healing at the faster rate.
As a spy, no specials worked with a heavy weapon.
I also noticed that faction recuiters had electro binoculars. No traps.

All DOTs were reported working including Spy's fang now.
Currently, the stealth that works on action is only on the highest CL stealth. I don't know if SOE plans to make all stealth work like the highest.
