This is my "create new threads before 9:30am morning."

So in large groups like Roba and S&V night, the sheer number of people creates floating blue spugal that obliterates the ability to see who is where and such. Soooo I took the plunge and turned off player names.

When you go in options and do it, it doesn't happen by just clicking Turn Off Player Names or whatever. To get it to do, you have to unclick Don't Show Object Names.

I've found I didn't have to do much adjusting...when you roll over people their names still show up.

Anyway, just thought I'd share. I think this is a great immersion tool for RP and also a useful tool for crowds when there's so many people there's an attack of the Giant Blue Cloud of Floating Names.

You should also see a pretty decent performance boost from turning off the names as well, at least that's what I've experienced.

My preformance is so sucky it's hard for me to tell much of a difference with anything anymore. =( Working on figuring out what that is with my Dad...though it may just be the DSL. (Rar)

yeah i've had names off for a long time,

A) it feels more immersive not being ina sea of names, and...

B) my play doesn't feel as ruined if i see a random trandoshan running around....when i don't have to know his name is "POOPDEMON444"

I turned off those darn things a while ago.. it also helps immensly when spawning in large traffic area starports, such as Theed or Eisley

i feel the performance issue i had to go out a few weeks back when i first came back to the game and buy a new graphics card i like this one better but still not up to par yet

There must be a keyboard command for it, because some days the names appear, and some days they don't for me.

If there's a patch, it usually re-sets all your options.

I'm not surprised. Typically, before I got my new video card, after every patch I'd have to re-install my old nVidia drivers, as the patch would reset everything to some crashing, undisplayable state.

That is soo weird you guys and the vid card crashin probs.. I only have nvidia cards in my stuff and havent had any problems.. I guess I have only been playing for a month and a half but still.. their have been patches and I have been here for some of you guys' probs...

Last patch I was thrilled to suddenly be able to see stars. It was beautiful. I still marvel at them. =)
