Quentin Tarantino is directing and starring in a remake of The Wizard of Oz with all our old Muppet friends! Knock me over with a whisper!
Kermit will be the Scarecrow with Miss Piggy *coughYodacough* as Dorothy. R&B singer/actress Ashanti is cast as the Wicked Witch of the West with Hip Hop pioneer/Oscar nominated actress Queen Latifah on tap as Auntie Em.
Too watch for: a fight scene between Dorothy and the Wicked Witch. With cut scenes between the action to Tarantino and Kermit discussing the choreography of the fight. Surely a departure from the classic story but, did I mention Tarantino?
We know of his fascination with 1970's Martial Arts genre so how could we blame him for not giving Miss Piggy's "Teras Hoove-si" their due. I mean, with those "Pork Chops" she always used to dish out she was the original "Kung Fu Sow".
Doesn't matter because when I was a kid one of the things that my world stopped for was Kermit's voice tweaking "It's The Muppet Show with our very special guest Don Knots! YaaaYyyy! *arms flailing about* ( or Henry Winkler or Dorothy Hamill or Elton John or name that 1970's icon...")
I might even rent the balcony seating.
