What is your favorite show on Sci-Fi?

I've been trying to get into the Farscape re-runs. They few episodes that I've seen, I really liked.
Anyone see the re-make of Battlestar Galactica back in January? I thought that it had potential. (too lazy to check the website).
But, as far as favorites go the original Star Trek series has still got me. It was a dynamic show. And that U.S.S Enterprise was just so damn versatile.

Yes I saw the remake. It was great. the series is starting in January, I think. A lot of die hards didn't like it b/c of the changeup of certain characters. I thought it was great though.

Yay! It deserves at least a chance to prove itself. I have to admit that I wasn't sure of some of the character change-ups until I saw the show.ArifoObi wrote:Yes I saw the remake. I really dug Starbuck as a female, Colonel Tigh as an alcoholic, and Adama as a serious autocrat. Lot of development to chew on.

I'd love to see that Battlestar Galactica mini-series become a series. I love the original and the new mini-series was even better.
As for favorite show on sci-fi? Tripping the Rift, hands down..I can watch the same episode 100 times and I laugh harder every time.

Favorite has to be Farcape, and its coming back WOOT! Keep in mind I'm a BIG fan of Jim Henson's Creature Shop who have a lot to do with that show.
Second place, Stargate SG-1. Its just a fun show with great stories and characters. The new one hasn't caught my interest yet though.
And Tripping the Rift is up there, but I can't call it my favorite because I haven't seen enough of it. I have laughed my ass off at it though.

Is SG-1 really that good? I feel funny asking since it's been out for so long but I remember being so jazzed about it before the feature film came out with Kurt Russel. The whole pyramid thing always fascinated me(see Are We Alone? Thread). Then I was underwhelmed when I saw the movie. That disappointment stopped me from checking out the show.Seret Sajet wrote:

Now it's got a spin-off and hearing all of you talk about it I'm thinking that maybe I missed something, laff! I'm almost afraid that I will like them because then I'lll have years of episodes to catch up on.

The Farscape movie looks pretty cool.
I never got into Stargate, and was usually confused with what was happening whenever I watched it. The episodes of Sliders that were on Fox are good, but the last few seasons aren't very well done.
There was a sci-fi show on Fox called Firefly that I thought was pretty entertaining. But because it was on Fox, it got yanked. They're making a movie of that too.

The TV show SG-1 is much better than the movie. The character development was far superior to that of the feature film.Keer wrote:Is SG-1 really that good? I saw both eps, and thought they were HOT with HOT SAUCE. I thought for sure that the series would come hot on its tail (it had decent ratings and reviews), but I think they're taking their own sweet time.Keer wrote:Anyone see the re-make of Battlestar Galactica back in January? I think I heard that it *is* going to be a series. Just don't know exactly when that's going to happen.

Is it that good? I haven't seen a single ep.Zannon wrote:As for favorite show on sci-fi? Tripping the Rift, hands down..I can watch the same episode 100 times and I laugh harder every time.
I saw the original Internet Fad like 5 years ago it seems (maybe longer?), and thought that was pretty hilarious, and wondered how the hell they were going to get that kind of comedy on even cable (the Internet one is about as outrageous as the original Southpark tape/internet video that circulated before the show came out, but in a sexual, not foul-mouthed way).
Also, they cynicist in me saw the promos and thought "way to strike while that iron is ice cold guys." Glad to hear it's good though.

Arifobi hit the nail on the head, the Stargate series is almost a seperate entity from the movie. While I thought the movie was just plain fun the series has a new edge to it. The characters are deeper and more interesting, the multitude of worlds are fantastic and the stories remind me of what I loved about the original Star Trek series and ST:NG.
And though it can be hard to get into a series at any mid-point I think this is one you can. I have not seen every episode, I haven't even seen most of them, but I've never had trouble just sitting down and watching a random one thats on TV.
Check it out sometime.

From what I hear they signed the entire cast for 2 years. They are shooting the entire series before they release any of the episodes? Kinda like what they did with LOTR. So hopefully that will get us 5 seasons+ worth of the series. The good thing about it is if they take the time to shoot it that way, even if the series flops we will still be able to get ahold of all the episodes somewhere =)X'an Shin wrote:I saw both eps, and thought they were HOT with HOT SAUCE.
