I admit it!

I haven't been a huge Star Wars fan in the past. I watched the movies quite a few times but never really got much outside of that. I was wondering if there were any good SW books or other media that I should check out to improve my refound Star Wars love. Thanks

Any Star Wars novel by Timothy Zahn and the first 2 or three in the Rogue Squadron Series. "The Courtship of Princess Leia" is a good one book read if you want to read about Dathomir.

While I'm not a big fan of the books, there is one set of stories that stood out for me.

My all time favorite is the Han Solo Adventures, copyrighted 1980-81. Written during a time when Star Wars was big but not close to being the multi-media juggernaut that it is today, the story content is edgier and Han Solo is a bit more ruthless and less idealistic. The setting is the Corporate Sector and the Cron Drift, an area teaming with scammers and cheats trying to make a comeup.

These are a trilogy that you can find in one volume or in separate books. I think these will justify your revived interest. :D

And there's not one Jedi character or even mention of The Force in the entire series.

I highly recommend any of the books with "Tales From..." in the title. Gee, I wonder where this site got its name?

This includes:
Tales From Jabba's Palace
Tales of the Bounty Hunters
Tales From the Mos Eisley Cantina
Tales From the Empire

They're all collections of great short stories, some by the before mentioned Timothy Zhan and other great Star Wars writers.

Check 'em out!

I think the most important thing you can do is watch the ORIGINAL episodes 4, 5, and 6 again. That and be mindful of the fact that we in SWG are between episodes 4 and 5.

"The Bounty Hunter Wars" by K. W. Jeter Is also a good 3 book series that focuses around Fett and his life shortly after blasting out of the Sarlacc pit. It gives you a more indepth backdround on side characters like Dengar, Bossk, and Price Xizor.

All the books mentioned here are great. I especially liked the bounty hunter wars and the trilogy by Zahn that is set 5 years after ROTJ.

Yes Timothy Zahn is the man! You must read his books they're all great! You may also want to check out Kevin J. Andersen or Anderson I forget how he spells his last name. Those are the two authors that got me hooked on the books. I haven't read anything in years though now but those are a great read. Also Truce at Bakura is fairly good as well and takes place just after the battle of Endor.

Just as an update, I'm currently reading Timothy Zahn's 'Heir to the Empire' which so far, has been a great book. Thanks for the great tips and whatnot, I'm really impressed with his writing.

I also noticed at the book store that they actually have novels based on Star Wars Galaxies; has anyone read or even heard of these?

I've seen those. I doubt I will read any of them unless someone tells me they are the greatest thing since Luke did scream like a cheerleader.

I didn't imagine they'd be all that good, but was just wondering what anyone had to say about them...I could just see a passage sound like:

Ringo waited patiently at the starport, freshly buffed, ready for action. Suddenly, a voice screamed into the Rodian's ear.

"ANYONE TEACH POLEARMS 3?" screamed the voice.

"No sir," replied Ringo "I cannot"

"ANYONE TEACH POLEARMS 3?" again screamed the voice.
"ANYONE TEACH POLEARMS 3? ANYONE TEACH POLEARMS 3? ANYONE TEACH POLEARMS 3? ANYONE TEACH POLEARMS 3?"

"Screw this" thought Ringo to himself as he questioned the Ticket Collecter as to how long the wait was before another transport ship arrived.

"How long unti...," Ringo was cut off.

"SELLING BRANDY, BIVOLI, BANTHA BREAD, MEDICAL SUPPLIES, GRUB BAIT, SLICED WEAPONS, COMPOSITE ARMOR, DROIDS, ARMOR REPAIR KITS, SPEEDERS, HAWTPANTS, RARE PETS, NIGHTSISTER LOOT, GONG ADHESIVE..." shouted another voice as Ringo tuned him out.

Ahhhh, what a great story that would be, right guys? Guys? GUYS??!

I got the book, and frankly, it sucked. They did come up with some interesting BS on some of the game mechanics. Over all, story was predictable though. Would've been better if they had like you said, or everyone raping the ticket droid.

Without a reference to Burbo, the book lacks any credibility whatsoever.

Chapter One should open with:

The Inquisitor waited for the transport in Coronet. Behind him 400 members of the extinct jedi order, flaunting their lightsabers with impunity..
