Does anyone remember the show Sledge Hammer. It was a police sitcom in the mid 80's. I just picked up the first season on DVD and I had forgotten how good it was.

I can't say I remember what a single episode was about but I do remember the character and the show and as I recall it was a lot of fun. All I remember is Sledge would sleep with his Magnum under his pillow and he treated like his own child.

That show had the coolest music The pearl handled .45 magnum he had with the sledge hammer engraved on it rocked. My personal favorite episode was when he was up against the terrorists, and he pulls out this big rocket launcher from his car trunk and destroys the building where one of the terrorists is stationed on the roof. It was definately ABC's best show EVER!!!

I remember that show for sure. I remember it being in the same time slot as some other show that I really liked. Can't think of it though. I'm sure that I'd like Sledge Hammer now that I'm older.

The episode that he takes out the building with the LAW rocket was the pilot. At the end of season one he detonates a nuke and they all die. The next season was all prequels to that, I think. (and the pistol, which he named Gun, is actually on the pillow next to him in bed, not under the pillow)
