There has been a lot of attempts at rules and guidlines for RPing in SWG. While these efforts are noble they are also ultimately self-defeating. You can't hand people RP Rules because you can't enforce them and people natually reject those rules. Even guidelines fall to the wayside because people still think of them as rules and sometimes just can't work with them.
So how do you do it? How do you help RPers without scaring them off or making them feel inadequite. You come to the realization that they don't need it. Its not like learning to play guitar or advanced mathematics. RP is something we already have in us.
We all grow up with fantasies, we all grow up with dreams and imagination. You wouldn't be playing this game if you didn't dream. The heart of RP is there, in our childish hearts and wildest dreams. If the heart is already there then you only need to give the RPer the tools to make their experience better.
So now we get to why were are here. SWG Tales want to bring the tools you need you enhance your gameplay. You want to roleplay your Twil'ek character more accurately so we will give you Guides to the Races. You want a story to run your characters through so we'll give you a template to use. You want to know where the criminals, mercinaries, Imperial task forces and underground Rebel revolutionaries are so we will tell you. We're not going to tell you how to do it, we're just going to make it easier for you to do it.
And to add, we can't do it without your help. We're only as strong as the community we surround ourselves and as RP communities go we are a powerhouse. So just by being here you're helping the RP community and the bonus is you are enhancing your own SWG experience. Pat yourself on the back.
So I hope we're clear. I hope you know what we've set out to do. Most of all I hope you will all stick around to help.
But let me tell you the one last secret we hold. There is only one goal here. One small sentence sums up why we are building this site, posting on this forum, and making long-winded posts (oops). One simple phrase...
Have fun
