From what I understand Galaxies was originally developed as a Star Trek MMORPG. The project was then scrapped and the system carried over to Lucasarts. I could be wrong though.

It should be:

That franchise is dead, Jim ;)

*in a small voice* Well, what if you like the 23rd (original Star Trek) timeline best...?

I will pre-order 2 years in advance just so I can be the first player to deliver a Vulcan Nerve Pinch in-game. :D
Perpetual Entertainment wrote:... "We have been searching for the right partnership for our time-honored Star Trek to create a game that not only appeals to fans but a broader audience as well. Perpetual's experience, technology and vision for this game make them the clear choice."
I knew that backing up every player post ever made on the SOE Forums to separate memory would come in handy. *Downloads to Perpetual Entertainment in-box*

**Successfully resists making snide remark regarding targeted launch date and Smuggler Revamp publish date. **

/emote gestures with "poignant compassion", hands in front of chest Shatner-style.... (C'mon, do it with me).

"Good luck...to Perpetual, ...Paramount, Viacom, *pained pause* Star Trek fans, and Gene Rodden-berry's starving dream *emphasis crescendo* in their endeavor." *relieved smirk*

Don't know which part of Keer's post I could reply to... :)

Although I share many of the same thoughts he does. I felt similar about Star Wars until I started playing galaxies. Maybe this could be the resurrection of the franchise. At any rate at least there won't be any shuttle waits! Enterprise, two to beam up...

Althought it seems a bit too much to have Kirk again, I am looking forward to seeing him on Enterprise this season.

I'm hoping for a resurrection of the Star Trek franchise from any source, believe me.

That's IF your ship isn't being eaten by a giant Space Amoeba or rocked by the Crystalline Entity. :-D

Or that the recent study of a point singularity at Cestus Gamma 8 didn't super-ionize the ship's dilithium matrix and tap out the Transporter circuits.

Not that I miss the adventure or anything...

How about the giant bugle that slices up entire planets and eats them!

(and by bugle I am referencing the snack Bugles not a trumpet-like device)

I was a Next Gen Trekkie before I was a Star Wars geek, I gotta give props to the place where I got my love of Sci-Fi. However...SW gets all my love now, however hot Riker was and however much I'd pee myself to meet Picard. And there's the fact that I can't afford to play anything else, and I don't divide my time very well. I tend to be rather uni-focused. If that's a word.

Yeah, man. It's been with me a long time :D But, I guarantee that you have got it on me when it comes to TNG. I am so much more the 23rd century fan. Constitution Class all the way.
