We invited company over and were grilling out here. Maybe it's just random timing or maybe is Sunday night football back? Or maybe everyone is going for Jedi quests?

I just wanted to say that I had a good time this evening. It was my first time attending S&V night at the Lucky Despot. I think I was a bit more concerned with trying to start my own storyline than introducing myself, so I am sure most of you were thinking, "Who is that weird Zabrak in the corner of the room that keeps fiddling with his droid?"

Well I still had fun and had some interesting conversations before the night was out. I look forward to more RP with all of you.

I am glad you had a good time Trasgo!

The crowd was a little light but I expect this will happen from time to time.

/preaching on

As roleplayers, I feel we should make an effort to attend these events. Word is getting out and people are constantly trickling in to see what this RP thing is all about.

I would encourage your veteran roleplayers to attend. People always come and go, it is important to meet new people and get them involved.

I go to these events even on nights when I don't particularly feel like it. Why? To do my little part to help the RP community.

Now that there will be an RP night Friday, Saturday and Sunday I can almost guarantee that will be difficult. At least one night of the weekend most of us have to cut loose a bit.

But I'm not saying I won't try. I try to get to as many of these as I can when I find it possible. You usually see Seret strole in pretty late.

Then there is in-character reasons. There's a heavy Imperial element at the Roba, forcing those of us with records to avoid it occassinally. Now don't get me wrong, thats a good thing, but we have to stay in-character for these events. Then there is Zeal's cantina night. E-li was quite insulting to those that run the Casino on opening night (once again, in-character) so you probably won't us there to indulge the new club. Then again we may find different reasons to come.

My point is as veterans we all want to be examples and make it to every event we can. You are correct there. I just don't want people feeling guilty for not attending when things like character conflicts, group activities and real life get in the way.

/end whatever it is I just did. Not a rant though.

AND...last night was light because that SW documentary was on A&E until 9pm CST and lots of people were watching that because it was really freaking good.

All your points are valid. My intent was not to make anyone feel guilty. It was more to reiterate the behind-the-scenes purpose of S&V night.

Regarding IC reasons for not attending.. You can justify anything through RP, whether to attend or not. Seret wants to avoid imperial entanglements. Sure, that is a legitimate reason not to go. Seret has greased the local wheels so he can conduct business at the Despot. That is legitimate reason to go. *shrugs* :D

I don't think the Zeal Cantina will be a regular Saturday thing. We just wanted to get it open.

I am sorry E-Li's comments were insulting. I did not hear any of that conversation.

I am torn between two mindsets... OOC I want to bring people together. IC, there are RP reasons why that would not happen.. like you cited above. Maybe I just need to relax and just focus on the IC. :???:

My RP last night at the Despot (and I was there from about 9 until midnight) was very focused on the two stormtroopers. I had interacted with Kincaide a while back in Nocturnus and he's a very good RPer and a friend of Dwilah's. He's been away and a little down on SWG...so I focused on him last night and being a suave pirate living on the edge while meeting his love interest's Imperial friend. I actually ened up drawing E-bo away fromt the main RP downstairs last night because I asked her to watch my back.

I was also talking to Li a bit OOC about Gorath's RP.

Sorry...my agenda for being there was less public than usual.

I was a dick. I'm always a dick to overt Imperials IC. Plain and simple but overall fun :)

Sometimes its tough but Ekade's right, we have to be more clever. I'm not personally offended by anyone's character or how they play them but IC there are a few people Seret does not like, and I have to faithful to that.

I'm not saying this because I think people have the wrong idea, I'm just saying this to open the discussion to find out ways to bring everyone together while still being true to our characters? Maybe Seret has a more important agenda that overrides his personal feelings or he has a more deviant plan under the surface. Those are things I hav eto work on.

How do you all overcome roadblocks in RP?

Yes, I too interacted with the stormtroopers for a little when they first arrived.. I also contacted them OOC to see if they were wanted to bring the weight of the empire to the Lucky Despot that evening. They were not all that interested at the time. :|

Good job focusing on him. There is a lot of fun to be had, hopefully your efforts were successful. :)
