Observation on JtL Resources

Post Reply
The more I read about the JtL expansion the more I'm awed by it's scope. I just counted all of the new schematics for the Shipwright Profession listed in the JtL Game Guide. Sit down.

263 new items have been added with this expansion!!

And those are just the pieces! That's not counting the completed ships.

I remember Seret's first impression of Shipwright post in our JtL Beta Forums was "staggering" as he put it, but daayyyum! I'm KD/Dizzy!

For scale, there are 12 separate Repair Kits craftable by Shippies, and one Component Analysis Tool. Imagine if Armorsmiths had a separate repair tool for each separate piece of armor. Or if Weaponsmiths had repair kits for each class of weapon (pistol, carbine, 1-Hand Melee, etc). Smugglers? Slicing tools unique to each armor piece. Gahhh!

So anyway, I'm looking at all of these new items and the common denominator in their scematics is Metal. Steels, Coppers, Aluminums, etc. And I'm thinking that combined with the resource draw that we already had prior to JtL, there has to be some new sources to harvest it all from. That or a new faster generation of Harvestors in the works to meet customer demand. Now throw in the inceased metals needs of the Droid Engineer Profession due to JtL droid demand...

Where will all of these Metals come from? I kept reading.

The higher demand for metal in JtL may be combined with a new source for it as well. Those Asteroids we see in orbit waiting for us to crash into them? Yep, I think that's gonna be it.

From Janessa's Atlas of the Tattoo System on page 37, is Location D:
JtL Guidebook wrote: Miner's Yard (Hyperspace Point)
Coordinates (X, Y, Z) -4933, 6439, 6890

Tattooine's resource numbers are plummeting daily. It is up to local miners to branch out and collect resources to replenish high demands. Their target: Asteroid Fields.
Also, Location B in Tattooine Space...
JtL Guidebook wrote: Iron Planet (Point of Interest)
Coords -6728, 58, 1601

The material of this "Iron Planet" is starkly different than the neighboring asteroids in areas circumventing the Trader's Grotto (Location H). It is unknown whether or not it will help against squelching the high resource demands from planet Tattooine. Only time will tell.
Heheh, I don't know about anyone else, but those last 2 sentences in the Iron Planet are a dead giveaway. If it really was "unknown" as far as impact on resource demand, then would they waste the ink and paper to mention it?

Now maybe I'm off on my own hayride here, but that's cool. Practice makes perfect. :D But I'm impressed by this expansion and I'm allowing my mind to roll with the potentials. There's also the added "gee whiz" of space mining being a potential necessity in our own future reality. Have they touched on that here?

And as long as I'm in the Imagination Bakery, here's another possible whipped cream and cherry...

Resurrection of the Miner Profession from SWG Beta?

But who knows? Food for thought (with extra vitamins...and Minerals :) ).

I've surely been fooled by this game before.

You forgot to take into account how each ship part has about 4-5 possible subcomponents that can be crafted into it for bonuses. The tricky part about these sub-components is they require resources that are BRAND SPANKING NEW and only spawned the day JtL was activated on the server (if at all yet).

Picture these like a sub-component you could had to a pistol blaster barrel that gives you more speed or accuracy.

Oh, and by the way, whether I'm right or wrong on the space mining my hat, shoes, socks, and tie is off to anyone who's decided to tackle the Shipwright Profession.

May The Force Be With You. Always.

Can you shipwrights please make a comprehensive list of all the stuff you need so that budding entrepeneurs such as my self could look into aiding in the supply of said resources?

No problem, here's the list for ya Shipwreck.

EVERYTHING. :D

Thats right, we use it all. Steel in the largest quanities followed closely by Iron, Aluminum, Copper, Inert Petrochem, Fiberplast, All Ore, Inert Gas, Reactive Gas, liquid petrochem fuel and Radioactive.

Thats just the regular resources for ships and basic parts. There is also the slew of new resources. I'll see if I can comprise a list of those for ya.

In addition to creating demand for DE's.. the demand for medics and entertainers has also gone up. :D

It is easier to get yourself killed in space than it is on the ground. This means wounds and battle fatigue.

Keer was saying something about mining earlier...

I don't know if this is a clue of some kind or maybe just a coincidence, but yesterday I looted a data disk from a ship. It was entitled "How to Mine"...it was worthless but it was a table of contents that had different article titles on mining related stuff...how cool would that be?

While grouped with Zannon last night, I saw his loot message come across my screen with the same disk and almost had a heart attack

Though he told me the same as what Del'tar's saying, I believe in my theory even more now.
