I have watched the last 3 of the 4 episodes this thus far this season. Of which that last two are the best Star Trek episodes that have been on the screen since TNG was fresh weekly.

In a matter of weeks the characters on the show have been given serious depth and the situations are new a unique to any series. I think they figured something out finally. Not sure.

Just make the captain go bald and grow a goatee and the series will get better. Worked for DS9.

Don't worry, they'll let Braga start writing episodes again and run the series into the ground.

Really? I may have to start watching again. I stopped about season ago, or so.

Well at least watch the next two episodes that feature Brent Spiner. We'll see what happens after that. :)

How do you guys find to watch TV?

Maybe I play too much SWG. I have a friend who has been begging me to watch Farscape. I hear that is good too.

I wouldn't know if Enterprise is getting better or not.

I don't watch Star Trek because I'm not a nerd. :P :P

I just cram to understand why they can't make this show good if not great. From gleaning the scripts of the 1960's Trek alone there are a multitude of plots and allusions that could be engaged.

I was a fan of the first season's writing, but didn't keep up with it. When I did come back to it, it was going downhill. From the linked article I can see that they are pulling a page out from the old scripts. The Eugenics Wars were one one of my favorite Trek allusions and I'll be checking out the treatment they're giving it. I also liked the introduction of the Andorians, future Federation members who first came as enemy conquerors (Jeffrey Coombs was great once again as Shran, the Andorian commander. He was formerly Vorta Weyoun and Ferengi Brunt, both from DS9. Good actor. As were all of the DS9 cast).

There was a two volume "expanded universe" (yeah, Trek has one too) story on The Eugenics Wars published back in 2002, focusing on the origin of the eugenics program and Khan Singh. There were some interesting revelations in the story about Khan, the program, and the time period that I won't spoil for those who haven't read it. Personally, I gave the story an 8 out of 10. One of the cool things is that Gary Seven, the enigmatic "Supervisor 194" from the Assignment: Earth episode of the '60s Trek, plays a big role in the story and Khan's road to dictatorship.

Looking at the Star Trek franchise as a sick relative on life support I can only hope that it gets better.

And to Michael Berman & Brannon Braga:

Energize! You bayhotchez. :P
