re-engineering question....

say you have a "mandalmotors vx39 starfighter engine" and it has a re-engineering lvl 3 on it, do you have to pair 3 exact same name mandalmotors, or can you mix up the engines as long as they're re-eng lvl 3?

I've heard both ways, but only ever done it with exact matches...

any lvl 3 engine will work as long as its RE lvl is also lvl 3.

Also, what is the effect on stats.. I have heard the resulting part gets 1) the best stats of all the parts, or 2) a small % increase in stats. What is the actual effect?

In Beta they had to be exact matches for names, 2 weeks before the release it changed to just matching up part types and RE levels. (info source: Zannon Enterprises Inc.)

End results of RE parts should give you the best stats of all parts (not confirmed) plus a % increase dependant on the RE level (confirmed). So if you RE 6 level 6 parts together you get a 6% increase to all stats.

i just put mismatched parts together BUT

i put a lvl 5 booster together, a mismatch of 3 and 2 same names, and only got a 3% bonus, so it's either buggy, or it was because i put the 3 same-names in first....you make the call

Havent gotten any more lvl 7's atm. I have about 4 lvl 8's, 5 lvl 8 cannons, and 4 lvl 6 caps that i'm gonna RE into some NICE equipment to get Reaver II fast and furious.

Still waiting to meet Reaver II in Kessel. I was there all by myself last night and took out a group of Rebels. It was 1v5. I killed them, flew around a bit, then saw the Imp Corvette. Then I wondered to myself if they thought that's why I was there.
