Blowing eachother up

So.. many of us are flying. Who'd be interested in a little space PVP?

I am thinking something along the lines of a mini-battle among friends, moreso to test this out than anything.

Is there a good sector where we could have this? Perhaps one with the ability for all of us to go overt?

Space PVP is suicide in the form of a space ship. One missile has the power to take out your shields and armor. Regardless of how good they are.

There must be more too it than that. That's what countermeasures are for.
Plus I've never had one mission take out my entire shield and armor in one hit, it takes a few to do that.

So will it be Master vs. Master, Tier 3 vs Tier 3 and so on?

My original idea.. no. It would be as close to equal numbers in a fracas. Once you die, you are out. Winner is the last faction standing.

Player missles are about ten times more damaging than those wimpy NPC ones.

Actually, what we can do is go to any PvE sector and go overt. No one flies overt in space (well, no one except me) and I do it because I get faction points everytime I blow up a rebel spacecraft.

Besides, now would be the perfect time to do it with the l33t d00ds going to WoW.

That's exactly what I was thinking Tramel.

Does anyone know of an area of space that has stations where we can all declare overtness?

I am thinking we just pick a planet that matches the above criteria and then I will chose a waypoint that is central and away from NPC spawns. The rules are simple. Die and you are out. The side who controls the WP at the end wins.

how do pirates declare overt?

You tell me, you are a pirate.

I know the rebels need to do to a rebel station and talk to it.

that's my point, we can't go overt

only place is a pvp zone, which I guess is only deep space now

and you have to be a master pilot with so many prestige pts for that

Oh that is just lame. I hope they fix that. How are we supposed to have some fun PVP with our neutral friends? Is it possible to duel?

I mentioned this in the Event? thread under SWG Public: but could pure privateers just get some faction delegated to them by someone from a faction, join up covert, then drop their faction when they are done? I know both sides may be interested in hiring a pirate or two when their resources are stretched.

This technique can even keep the Privateer IC for the most part. The faction is a temporary commission from that side for duty. The pirate does his job, then walks away. For the Rebels, this supplements their fleet after a huge loss of fighters at the Deathstar. For the Imperials, they are trying to keep up with the numerous hit and fade tactics in sectors not worthy of full time Imperial pilots. The loss of faction is a ranking officer swallowing his pride to hire outsiders. :)

BTW: I will be testing /duel in space tonight. I've been wondering about this for quite awhile.

don't think you can goe overt in space unless you are in the Rebel pilot or imp pilot skill trees....

because privateer pilots can't access reb or imp space stations

/duel works in space. I tried it with oeree once to test out Nblast(which other than looking good, sucks). I'm all for the pvp. I might try it out, evne though i'll probly be first out. I never use missiles and don't bother with countermeasures. Of course, It would also help if i wasn't buged and could actually equip stuff on my ship.

It used to work. I'm a Privateer tree, covert rebel. When I fly up to a Rebel station, they used to ask if I wanted to declare (then tell me that I will be Overt until I land). That was a couple weeks ago since I tried it. I'll check that again tonight. Otherwise, I might be a spectator at the event I was planning for this weekend too.

I'm wih Nyase's personal no ordinance policy. I suppose I'll need to learn countermeasures soon. Missiles though... they cost more creds than most of my opponents are worth.
