IE browser hijacking, anyone have a clue?

Or is it just a personal preference thing? What is the difference between Netscape and Firefox? Does netscape do the same thing to Active X that Firefox does (the reason I assume it is more secure than IE)?
My choice is Firefox but from what I have heard the new Netscape is pretty slick as it allows you to use IE or Mozilla browsing engines and switch back and forth.. Of course if you use IE as an engines you're just a susceptible so I just use Firefox. :)

So Firefox is pretty obscure in the scheme of things? Is there anything that I can't do with Firfox that I CAN do with IE?

Oh and by the way...one of the more wonderful things about the infestaton I had was that it actively looked for key words in search engine queries like google and yahoo! and when it picked one up, it directed you to one of their websites which put a bunch of cookiees on your computer (if they were enabled) which you then had to delete. Fuckers. Is this stuff actually legal?

Its like a lot of things, if it can't be enforced then companies will take their chances.
