I prefer the Russian RPG-7 to the US militaries M-72 LAW for the simple fact that it can be reused. I would rather carry it with 3 rounds than 3 LAW's, although it is arguable which are more effective and or quicker to deploy.

Do they come with that red and white checkered head scarf? I don't think I have ever seen one without the other.E-bo Obi wrote:

I'd have to disagree with you there...the poorly constructed rocket for the RPG-7 make them unreliable at best and very inaccurate. Unless, you're lucky enough to only get Russian-made rockets to re-load with. Plus, the amount of explosive in the warhead of an RPG-7 gives you much less of a punch.E-bo Obi wrote:

But that's just my opinion...since I've never fired either and my information is stricly from reading about the two weapons.
My personal opinion is that anything made by the United States for the sole purpose of killing people is going to be the best product possible...let's face it, we're good at doing that efficiently (or else we wouldn't mount a .50 on everything possible).

You'd have to get some footage of a conflict in Southeast Asia or Somalia to see them employed without that headdress. Several soldiers have looted those headdresses and found that it gives you a plus 5 to fanatacism though.
But hey, if you are going to fight in a holy war why not make a fashion statement at the same time.
"Hey dad, can I get one of those red and white rags for my head? PLEASE! All the others martyrs are wearing them."

Zannon you bring up some good points. But the key to any weapon system is its sustainment. Now you can go just about anywhere and pick up an RPG-7 or ammo for it. US made equipment is also the best that can be made by the lowest bidder. Trust me we do not have the best weapons in the world, We just have the best training and implimentation of technology.
(And I am not trying to put anyone down. Great Britain and Israel probably have better training but they don't make use of technology to the levels we do.)

Very true...and they'e cheap if you don't have a dead fanatic militant to pick one up off of. Last I heard, you could get round for an RPG-7 at a Somali open air market for about $4 in US currency...I think an M-72 round costs the tax payers about $250 a pop.E-bo Obi wrote: Now you can go just about anywhere and pick up an RPG-7 or ammo for it.

I believe they have been totally replaced by the AT-4 which is huge but packs a hell of a punch.

I believe the Marines still use them. I have a buddy in Iraq right now and he sent me a pic where a guy in the background was carrying an armload of them.E-bo Obi wrote:I believe they have been totally replaced by the AT-4 which is huge but packs a hell of a punch.
