Citizens of Mos Eisley Unite

Post Reply
My fellow roleplayers, though this sight we have had a great deal of fun. More fun than the state of the game itself would allow us other wise. We have several weekly events where we roleplay simple exchanges between citizens of the galaxy. We have held epic story lines where events created by us for us have had a significant effect on our characters like that which took place in Jade's Replacant War event. I now ask you to consider helpin me create an entire community in the NPC city Mos Eisley.

I ask you to help me create a living breathing community that will embody the Star Wars universe. I ask you to help me build Mos Eisley into a city where players can walk into and feel as if they truly step into the movies.

At this very moment as you read this, the cities in SWG feel hollow as if they where simple mirages of the Star Wars universe we all came to love. There is no character to the cities we came to love. Theed is no home to nobility and political intriuge. Coronet is no busseling metropalise with a seedier side of the underworld thrown in. And Mos Eisley is no hive of scum and villianny.

What I propose we do to fix that is to not only inhabit Mos Eisley but to "live" in Mos Eisley. Find a nich you see your character filling and fill it. If your a merc looking for the next big pay off offer your services to new players buy offering to help them hunt down that Squil lair, for a fee of course. If your a entertainer on a bad run of luck you can find yourself in Mos Eisley's cantina looking for your ticket back to the lime light. Here is a few sugestions of my own but you can fill what ever nich you see in Mos Eisley

Swoop Gang--Ideally there will be several players who rome around ME and try to cause as much troble for the "law abiding" citizens. They would generally throw their weight around and try to duel as many newbee's as they can. They will usually back down when facing a player who is oviously tougher than they are. As a side job those in the gang will act as hire thugs for Lady V and possible provide security for the Lucky Despot.

Missionaries--These individuals will preach about their religion offering material on their beliefs in form of player mails and will try to sway the more reputable of the community to convert and repent. I see a possible problem that some players may find this offensive (due to the secularistic brain washing that goes on in society). To try to curb this any given out matierial should come with a disclaimer at the end telling them that this is all in the spirit or roleplaying.

Information Brokers--I'd like to see one or two players take up shop in ME as info brokers who will sell info to who ever is whiling to pay. These two should have the HELPER tag active and roleplay giving any newbees tip on the game as well as act as story tools for any event that we come up with her on this sight.

Other Things I'd Like to See--A Judge, a News Reporter (this person would take up doing the monthly RP Zone Update's I do on the main sight), a local drunk, a small band of slavers working for Lady V or Jaba, a local entertainer troop fallen on some bad luck, and all around hard asses to give it a seedier feel. Possible a drug dealer workin for Lady V as well.

I'm not asking those of you who live in cities like Nocturous to abandon your friends and city. What I am asking is for you to help breath some life into the game and help establish Goraths first RP Zone Mos Eisley.

We had this concept working okay at one point in the past. The problem arises when someone makes the trip to Mos Eisley a few times and comes up empty handed, RP-wise.. then they simply stop coming.

That is the risk. How do we mitigate this risk?

The only way I can see that we migate the risk is to get as many people as we can on this. The more people involved increases the more time that roleplayer will be there wich then decreses the problem you see E. The problem with my initial try was that even though there where some strong roleplayers there was just too few of us and even with your's, Tramel's, Nyase's, and Zannon's (forgive me if I forgot anyone) help we couldn't provide a viable community that would be pressent when the heviest of rokeplayers where on.

E-bo u see me on week ends /shrug.

I'm unsually on Monday-Friday 11am-3pm PST I work graveyards and I sleep in the afternoons when my dad in on the comp with galaxies on it.

I spend a lot of time there. I am already doing missionary type work there, have helped people and RP'ed with many folks. I RP all the time now, and have been spreading news about this sight. Im learning German, and doing what I can to get the English speaking folks (and some that barely speak it) to RP, and work with us.

I love the germans and I try to help, what little I can, to get them involved. I know very little german. I can usually understand what they are saying but I can't reply in an intelligent way.

In defense of Mos Eilsey..

The city chosen for this shold be a city that people go to. Traffic is important for growth. I would rule out Coronet as this is basically a place for powergamers to get buffed and AFK spammers. I would also rule out Theed for much the same reasons.

For me, the charm of Mos Eisley lies in the fact that it is the most "Star Warsy" city in the galaxy. Mos Eisley is also a neutral city.

I am always finding people there who dont seem like they RP, start RPing with them and they catch on...
I pop in and out of the ME cantina all the time. I dont hit the despot though.
Whar is currently trying to recruit followers there when he isn't at home.

Yes.. and to echo Whar's statements I have experienced more "random RP" in Mos Eisley than in any other city.

It has been too long since I have gone there to just "hang out". :D

Mos Eisley is the spot. Sorry to every one that wants to do it some where else but this is the most reconizable city in the game. Every one who plays this game knows what Mos Eisley is supose to be like and every one passes through there if for nothing more than a curriosity look. The fact that it has traffic is also esential to what I'm trying to do. We must spread the disease known as roleplaying and you cannt do that in some devoide city, player built or Dev built.

im down to help in anyway possible, when I was actively recruiting Monks I preyed on the newbs from eisley =)

I also try to rp in the face of non roleplayers...in fact there are about 4-5 people I see regularly in Eisley that think Dariis is crazy and lives in swg, they say I think swg is real life... I simply respond "Real life? you mean here?;/ponder;/chuckle;young man, would you like me to escort you to the medical center....spice is a dangerous thing, your confused, you think there is a planet earth!" :D

I have found that even the biggest flamer of a powergamer cannot win if you never break character, and never talk ooc
