Does anyone else feel like they have won the lottery when their boss leaves for the day at 10 am?

Cuz I sure as shit do. The typical day when he is here involves conversations like this...

83 year old guy: What are ya workin on today?
Me: I have a whole pile of contacts here that need to be entered into our database.

(long pause)

83YOG: So what are you doing with them
my internal monologue: Staring at them, idiot. What else would I be doing?
my official response: Entering them into the database.

My other favorite interaction is this one...

Old guy: Whats going on today
Me: We are having some computer problems...networking stuff.
OG: I don't see why we use these things. For all the problems we have with them. we should use the rolodex like we used to. Hell, I used to be able to do payroll without a computer for years!
Me: And it took you all day on friday to do it. I can do it in 5 minutes.

I can understand being behind with the times, but man. I suppose we should sell our printer/copier too and go back to the mimeograph.

I like your posts. I get all sorts of joy like that in my job. I love it when we install new software in a PD where I work. Its a lot more interesting when your users have guns. Its always nice when officer friendly goes "this works like shit, f--- this!" as he refuses to enter a murderer's complete information in to our records management software.

But more importantly, Del'tar - I have noticed that in your sig file, your character has chosen to wear the composite arm bracers and at the same time is not wearing a helmet. Do you find this to be a distinct advantage in certain fighting situations? Does the absense of a helmet allow you to pump more commands to your mouse droid quicker?

I left the helmet off for several reasons...

My horns are studly and far too impressive to cover by a stinky comp helmet. Also, as you undoubtedly noticed, my facial tattoo is second to none and is scary as hell. I want people to know who is blowing them up with a mouse droid.

I use the bracers instead of the helmet so that when the s*** does hit the fan, I can cover my head with my arms. And I don't have the pants on because half of the time, people take one look at my junk and just put their blasters down. I keep myself "sin pantalones" to keep people from making trouble.

I know how you feel though, people need to learn that computers only do what you tell it to. So when it does something wrong it's your fault, or the internets. Blaming the internet is easier.
